I am skating to some Asian music (Kung fu inspired) and it looks like I may need to get a custom dress made. I found a Japanese kimono design online but that won't work since it isn't Chinese.

Does anybody have a recommendation of a custom dress maker that might be able to create something? I am in no rush.

Thanks!

Jalie has a new Asian inspired dress... I know those patterns go together in a snap. It's worth looking at!

I don't have advice on the dress but watched your new spin sequence video and wanted to say how nice it was to see!  Looking forward to skating well enough to want to post.   :o

If you're anywhere near NYC - or interested in taking a trip or two there, Stephanie Handler is excellent and works well with adults.  PM me if you want her contact information.  She's posted a lot of her designs on Facebook.

Kats-Designs (www.kats-designs.com) in Markham, Ontario makes all my dresses. They work mostly via email/skype with me and until now have had no problem what-so-ever with them and are relatively inexpensive but great quality. Send me a PM if you want more info.

It's funny, but besides a very few articles I found on Stephanie Handler as a designer for Johnny Weir, I could find nothing on her - no details even on FB!

I am getting my first dress from US IceWear (www.usicewear.com) tomorrow, and so I can come back and report. :) She does custom dresses for styles she already has and I think she does custom custom dresses, too. :)

I see USIcewear at a lot of competitions and she makes some lovely dresses, if your body fits her model.  Mine doesn't (I'm both too long and too wide) but I wish it did.  I talked to her once about adapting a dress to fit me, but by the time we got finished with all the additional charges, it ended up being almost the same price as one of Stephanie Handler's one-of-a-kind totally custom dresses, which is what I ended up getting.  I justify the expense of a custom dress by not getting one suited for a specific program and just getting a color and style that works for my body.  My last custom dress has worked for everything from free dance to showcase to free skating and I get complements every time I wear it.  :)

If your body fits the dress, I highly recommend USIcewear. My dress came in today and it's fantastic. :)

I'm working on losing weight and this dress will fit me for a good 20 pound loss, so YAY.

Love that dress! And it looks great on you! I don't recall seeing that style on their site... I'll have to look there again!

The dress is very pretty and simple!!   I love it!  And best of all its black and sophisticated. :)

Thanks for everyone's suggestions. I decided to go with Kristen Aiello of iSkatewear.com. Will let you know how the dress turns out!

Thank you everyone! Sorry, AxelWylie, I didn't mean to hijack this thread! Just wanted to show the quality and fit of USIceWear. :)

Good luck on your dress!
