I just came back from skating on my new pair of skates (Jackson Classique) for the first time and I'm really happy with them (never will I ever go back to those days of dull, rental skates 8)). I had a 30 minute workshop and then took off my skates to rest my feet. They felt completely fine until about 30-45 minutes later while skating during the public session when I noticed that my left foot was rubbing weirdly against the right side of the boot which left a small blister.

My right skate fit like a glove and I never had a problem with it. However, I had to retie my left skate at least three times, checking to make sure that my heel and ankle were secure (then again I have quite narrow heels) but each time it'd go back to rubbing the side of the skate with every stroke. I'm not sure if my left foot is just shaped differently and I'll have to tough it out or am I doing something wrong?

woohoo! glad your first skate on your new skates went well! Don't have much advice on fit etc for your left foot, so hopefully the others can offer some good advice. :)

If it is any consolation, when i got new skates one of them cut into my ankle the first time i wore them were fine after that :) Do you wear socks or tights with them? perhaps that would make a difference?

Oh yikes! Well I wore long thin cotton socks. Is it perhaps the material? I do tend to get clammy feet so would the cotton be responsible for the rubbing?

This is going to SOUND crazy but my coach had me warp my feet in syran wrap and skate in my skates when I first got them and it prevented blisters and helped break them in a bit. I also have a similar issue, one boot fits really really good but the left is just like a TINY bit to small and if I tie my skate to tight in one area they will cause pain.  But new skates are going to hurt bottom line no matter what and cause blisters.

You should try a silipos gel tube over your heel to take up some space for that narrow left heel.
Yes I'm in with the 90's. I have a skating blog. http://icedoesntcare.blogspot.com/

Ditto on the Gel Sleeves. These are God-sent. I know a lot of us use them, myself included for the exact same season. My skates use to cut into the upper portion of my ankle, tried Gel Sleeves and no more problems.
