It is my imagination or are these announcements much earlier than normal!  I'm not complaining, I just thought that these usually weren't known until after the prior year's nationals.

I thought the same thing, but its from the usfsa events search, so it must be legit.  A friend mentioned the NJ Sectionals and I thought he was mistaken.  I know US Figure Skating was working hard to have the same timeline for all the qualifying announcements.  Well done!

These were all announced in August, along with this year's locations. Normally they only announce one year at a time, but they accepted bids and completed the schedule for two years this time.

USFS posted instructions on how to register for qualifying events at Adult Sectionals and qualifying and non-qualifying events for Adult Nationals. There seems to have been some confusion about it so I thought I'd post the link here for reference. Registering for non-qualifying sectionals events is done through the local organizing committee.
