Here are some views of a scribe I designed and made. It is of aluminum. I had to drill and bolt/screw it as I do not have the tools to weld aluminim. It is quite handy, light, and collapses down to 4 ft. Fully extended it will scribe an 18 ft circle, and infinitely adjustable in between. Total cost of materials was around $40.00 new at TSC. Timewise it took about 3 hours to make it. Folds out in a minute or less: remove one wingnut, fold handle out, replace wingnut, quarter turn to loosen first clamp and retighten after extending, quarter turn  to loosen second clamp and retighten, done. really slick at making a perfect circle. You could even make up a holder to clip a magic marker to if you want a REALLY visible line to follow. Anyhow, FYI.
