Greetings everyone,
Tonight is the night the forum gets upgraded, starting at around midnight.  We will be moving to SMF 2 and back to our home url of skatingforums.com.  I expect the forum to be down from midnight to 6 am.

Great!!! Thank you so much Jim :)  I am very excited about the new features hehe.

JimStanmore

Well, the forum is now 2.02 and running at skatingforums.com.  Unfortunately, there are still some rough edges to work out that we'll ne working on over the next few days.

Thanks to davincisoprano for the new logo!

Thank you davinci, lovely logo :)

Many thanks Jim for your hard work. Great experience so far! :D

Isk8NYC

Thanks, Jim.  Love the logo, DaVinciSoprano!   (She gave us a bunch to choose from - this one looks so classy!)

Looks great and love the logo!

It looks like you got rid of the "You have been logged on xyz days abc minutes" - that is great because I don't want to know!

Was there such a thing? Glad I could be selectively blind!

Maybe it was just on MINE!  It was at the top where it says, "show unread posts since your last visit" etc.

JimStanmore

Hmm, didn't notice that.  Even though I did a couple of dry runs, there are still some things to tweak.  The old one wasn't very accurate, maybe the new one will be better at that.

It might be a good opportunity to check over your profile settings to make sure they are the way you want them.

Anyone having problems logging in or out, try clearing the browser's cache and deleting the cookies.

Then, make sure you're using the new url: www.skatingforums.com, not skatingforums2.
Check your bookmarks and make sure they've been updated.

I started a problem reporting topic in the Board Q&A folder

I have noticed several users having problems signing in from the error log.  The error states "password incorrect" and everyone seems to have gotten logged in on the second or third try.  I don't know why that was happening yet, but if you need your password reset, email me at

Note that AT is @, and DOT is . and there are no spaces

 :pop:

Is this new? From FSU?

Also like these:   :nvm: :toppts: :stars: :ghug:

Isk8NYC

No, we've had the popcorn smiley on the popup for this board from the beginning.   I have seen it on FSU (to indicate they're watching a disagreement,) but I didn't get it from their forum; it's from a free smiley site.

I couldn't find all of the old ones from before the upgrade, but I did the best I could in replacing them.  I also added a few new ones that I liked.  Glad you like them as well.

I prefer to put the animated smileys on the popup because it works better for older/slower computers and connections.
Any objections?

I think I've resolved all the missing smileys.
Updated: Jim resolved the missing "NEW" and "RSS" icons.

Oh I never realized the one with the popcorn was about watching a disagreement - I guess you are right - oh well, I can also use it for watching figure skating in general I think!  I don't spend much time at FSU anyway although I think some of their discussions are quite hilarious (and predictable) at times.

Now my picture is not showing up - do I need to re-do it?

Yes, avatars have to be uploaded again, or you can upload it to your own online site and link to it instead.  (ex: photobucket, blog, etc.)

UPDATE:

:nvm:

Jim fixed it!

Thanks. It's time for a change anyway. :-\

Avatars, including mine, had been showing up - they are all on the server.  Now to find out where they went without messing up the newly uploaded ones...

Don't worry about saving just-uploaded ones.   It's more important to retrieve the already-existing ones.

There we go, some of the avatars are back.
