This online store says they have new scribes for $50.  Has anyone bought one from them?

I have (and treesprite has too), plus there is a 20% off coupon you can use: RTFF20.  Shipping was a little steep for me at almost $16, but with the coupon the total was still well under what most seem to sell for on ebay.

I have a scribe that looks just like that purchased from Jerry's in the late 80's, and it's still holding up well. So is the obnoxious neon pink and green bag it came in (an awesome teenager decision I didn't think would haunt me 25 years later :P ). I wish they showed pictures of the current bag - perhaps the purple and black isn't so bad? I'd really love something a bit less "LOOK AT ME!!!"

Did anyone get the bag?

Did anyone get the bag?

No - it was memories of those bags from the 90's that worried me enough not to get one!  My scribe lives in my locker at the rink but I decided if I really needed "soemthing" to carry it in I could either make something or use a yoga mat bag.

Elsa

Sarah, too funny, they were pretty awful weren't they?  :P  I think I'll stick with carrying it out of the bag for now. . . though if a decent pic shows up, I might reconsider.

It ended up selling for more than the buy it now price! Crazy.... both the scribe and bag can be had for less than that brand new.

I don't know if the quality of this one is as good as the used one on ebay, but it appears that you can get a new scribe for less $$$ than the starting bid on the used one:  http://shopmidwestskate.com/Ice/Training-Aids_2/Jerrys-Ice-Scribe

New one on eBay:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Figure-skating-scribe-vintage-/201428128917?

Comes with a carrying case.  Location is on the Canadian side of Niagara Falls, so could make for a nice weekend trip to pick it up, then get in some ice time at the Lake Placid ice complex.

Ha!  I remember when the double screw model came out.....  That's not too "vintage"! Or I'm getting to be "vintage" myself  :o

celia

I had the double screw model.  It was so easy to make the scribing end perpendicular to the ice that way - self-leveling   88)

I am selling my scribe.  Here is my CraigsList post in the NYC area.

I will ship, but that will be extra from negotiated price.

Thanks!

I know it has been a while since someone posted in here but I figured I would give it a go. I'm American but live in South Korea. One of my coaches, who isn't as confident in his English has asked me to assist him in tracking down a scribe. I believe I found one used on a site I have never heard of. Is there another source besides that people know of? I am hitting up eBay, Etsy and craigslists in places that I have friends or family.

Decent-priced scribe on eBay:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/112893128566?ul_noapp=true

$30 plus $11 shipping.

Up to $38 + 10 shipping.

Is a scribe worth getting for someone working on pre-bronze mitf?

I do like to do the figure 8 pattern from the bronze test and serpentines in addition to the pre-bronze patterns.

Update: Went for $95 + $10 shipping. I wasn't going to go anywhere near that high.

It was lovingly handmade by the FABULOUS Scott Irvine (sirvine@sunvalley.com) in Sun Valley, Idaho! If you love the beautiful challenge of figures, call him right away and get your custom scribe!
(And yes, it has a pen holder too!)
