comparable to phantom?

the Phantom has a 7ft rocker and the Ultima Freestyle 120 is an 8ft rocker.  So I'm not sure why they would be considered comparable.

I didn't see that anywhere on Ultima's page, but found it on a few retailers- so I wonder if it is not Ultima who is making the comparison?

Perhaps it means "suitable for use by skaters of the skill level who would use a Phantom blade"?

Thanks!  That was what I was thinking.  I think she'd like to keep the 7ft rocker, she has great spins but there is a price difference.

It probably also means that the spin rocker profile is similar to the Phantom

Just to add, when I switched from CoroAces (primary rocker 7) to Ultima Matrix Legacy (with 8 rocker), I did not notice much difference in the way the blade felt with skating (maybe a bit faster, but I also went to a shallower hollow).   Legacy is a blade that is comparable to the CoroAce.
When comparing 2 blades side by side, I do notice they look different, even in the toe pick design, but they felt very similar on the ice.

That is helpful to know.

She didn't think there would be a huge difference in blades, but with the great results from the professional, she is eager move up again.  We have time with her current blades, I'm just gathering information now.

Ultima themselves have put that out; they have a chart (or used to) on their sight with "X" is comparable to "Y".  There are tons of debates on this forum as to that comparison which you will look at. The whole 8" rocker on the Ultima thing ... again, lots of debate.

Thanks for the correction. I couldn't find it on their site.

Yes ... they used to have this PDF file on their site that did direct blade-to-blade comparison.  It's not there now ... but, there are still "individual" files that imply that the blades are comparable (i.e. they show a Matrix Legacy, a Legacy, a CoroAce and a MK Pro on the same sheet with prices listed).

I probably have the original PDF archived somewhere on my computer ... I downloaded it back when I was living in the "rich fantasy world" where my coach would let me put Ultimas on my kid instead of Wilsons :)

Ultima has pretty much copied the pick clusters on several blade models, that's about as far as it goes.

From what I understand Ultima uses the SAME rocker profile on all of their blades (whether that refers to the entire line, or any blade at a given "level" I am not sure), the only difference is the picks.  I could be wrong on that, but unlike Paramount they're not paying a license fee to HD Sports (who owns MK and Wilson) to use the blade profiles and names in their product.

If you buy an Ultima Freestyle blade, it is perhaps closest to a Phantom blade than the others in their line, but it's not as close to a Phantom blade as something like the Paramount copy is, which not only copies the picks but also the rocker profile.

I have tried a Coro Ace, Ultima Matrix Legacy and Ultima Matrix Supreme (Gold Seal equivalent).
Minimal adjustment on the ice going from CoroAce to Legacy.  After Legacy I tried Supreme.
Supreme looks and feels completely different than Legacy, so I doubt they are the same profile.   They both have 8" primary rocker, but the spin profile is totally different!  The drag pick is higher off the ice and is angled differently than the Legacy. The sweet spot feels  smaller and shifted more towards the front of the blade. The rocker feels much curvier (and my Legacies were sharpened only 4 times, so not too flattened out).
I can't say how close the Supremes are to Gold Seals, but they are vastly different from the Legacy and CoroAce!
