I wish that I'd respond to vitamin B12 that way. The doc said I was deficient about a year ago. He put me on monthly injections, but I swear there's no difference at all.

Different strokes, I guess.

I take pills. I don't have time to go to the doctor.

you have little calluses on the sides of your pinkies from tightening your skates all the time

Yes!

And, you wake up at 3:00am all excited to skate and have to wait until 4:30am to get up because the FS session doesn't start until 6:30am.  Still, you are at the rink at 5:50am.

Hahahaha add to this- standing outside in the cold/huddled under the tiniest possible shelter because it's raining, waiting for the coaches because the rink is still locked.  And you knew this would happen already when you left the house, but you just couldn't stop yourself.

I'm so right there with you!

When you can identify what movie your parents are watching in the loungeroom - with absolutely no visibility from your position - solely by the score.

(Overhear mum and dad saying, "what's the name of this movie, I can't remember" and me just "Man in the Iron Mask.". Parents were  ??? )

When you have more scores on your iPod than actual songs because scores are great skating music.

When you spend a whole movie going "wow, great score! Someone could totally skate to this!"
"Three months in figure skating is nothing. Three months is like 5 minutes in a day. 5 minutes in 24 hours - that's how long you've been working on this. And that's not long at all. You are 1000% better than you were 5 minutes ago." -- My coach

. . . when you're driving your car and have to do a 3-point turn to turn around, and you actually tell yoruself, "Left forward outside. . . pre-rotate, right back outside. . . pre-rotate, left forward outside."

When a colleague casually states that "It just clicked for me..."

... and all you can do is cringe and think about falls that follow the "click of death".

Please keep your -20. Our 12 was plenty cold enough.

I cancelled my lesson today because of snow, sleet, icy conditions. With a 45 mile drive home, it was just too risky. My coach had a cancellation on Sunday, so I'm going then.

When you return to the rink on Friday night to watch your son's mite hockey game.  You have to sit on the bleachers, and they are C-O-L-D and the rink smells.   Then, you realize that you are never cold or notice the rink's smell when you are skating.    Then, it's a whole, blissful experience.

Because it does not smell when there are no hockey skaters?

That's exactly was I was thinking...

Boo

When one of the coaches working in your rink approach and tell you: "you're here everyday" (implying "do you even have a life outside?")
When you're alone in an elevator with a mirror and try to do a (failed) wall split, dreaming that one day, this would turn into a beautiful spiral or biellmann position on ice ...

We are mainly a hockey rink, and it smells all the time.  But, I don't really notice it when I am figure skating . . . .

You know you skate too much when you are playing tennis on Sunday morning with your son and you decide this is a good place to do off-ice while he 's running for the ball and that the tennis racket would make good "bands" for shoulder alignment.    So, you do flip and lutz jumps, holding a tennis racket horizontally, and you perfectly land each one on one leg, fully rotated!

I just bought a ZUCA  bag for $25.  I don't know what I'll do with it, but $25!

...you get off the ice after 2.5 hours to wrap your feet in an electric medical heating pad that you have stored in the skating locker for which you pay an annual fee to use so you can warm your toes back up while eating the snacks you brought (clementine, cheese stick, nuts, half a banana) and then return to the ice for another 2 hours.   :WS:

You see road signs containing the word "valley" but you read it as "walley".

"Pleasant Walley"
"Great Walley Road"

etc

Pleasant Walley Sunday?  (I live near the street that song was named for... I may never hear it the same way again now!)

... you give up trying to put band-aids on your hands because you just end up slicing through them when tying your skate laces.

... you avoid parking on the flat part of the driveway when you know an ice storm is coming... in the hopes of using it for spin practice later.  (No such luck this time!  Drat!)

iomoon

...you use the above eye level office mailbox to practice your jumps.

YES!  I bled all over my laces today after two of my fingers cracked open.

Here's one I learned today.  You know you skate too much when you get to the rink at 9am, warm up for 30 minutes off ice, skate for 2 hours, take a 30 minute break, and then have your lesson at Noon and you discover all of the awesome stuff you did that morning you can't do in front of your coach because you're pooped!

A little flip of this subject. You know you read skating forums and blogs too much when the third sentence on this page leaps right out at you!

(It's a book by Kristy Yamaguchi. One of my girls is using it for a book report.)

I know, I thought I remembered reading your post about the Big Guy saying that so I went back to be sure. This is just proof that he was right! :)
