You dream of landing a double loop and centering a gorgeous back scratch spin. Then you're extremely disappointed when you realize it's just a dream.

justamoose

The history on your internet browser is all skating related
You stop buying things you don't need because all you can think about is how much ice time you could buy instead with that amount of money

When you see a sign for a Chase bank and read it as "chasse". Happened to me today. Thank goodness it was only inside my head.

I've had the double loop dream many times - including during years when I wasn't even skating!  It always feels extra floaty - doesn't feel like a double so much as a single that takes twice as long!

when you gauge whether or not a visit to a distant and unpopular relative will be a total waste of time based on proximity to the closest suitable rink and that rink's schedule.

Boo

You're in a middle of a finance exam and instead of focusing on your calculus, all you can think of in your head is: "Hey, what about trying a shoot-the-duck position on ice this week-end now that I can somehow hold it off-ice? Woohoo it's going to be so fun to fall on my bum again and again, I can't wait!"

-You're kind of bored at work and decide to do skating jumps. This is behind a desk at a busy hotel when no one is around. (Yup totally doing that right now)

Feebee

You can't concentrate on work because a) You're too tired from your early morning lesson b) you're exhausted because you didn't fall into a deep sleep for fear of missing said lesson c) you're watching the clock while you work, wondering if you've clocked enough billable hours to warrant a 3 hour practice "break"

ChristyRN

You get your work schedule and see your coach to set your skate lesson schedule before you schedule anything else. . .

You work in a place that has a polished concrete floor, and the soles of your work boots are almost worn smooth, and the urge is just too great when you see an empty aisle...
"Three months in figure skating is nothing. Three months is like 5 minutes in a day. 5 minutes in 24 hours - that's how long you've been working on this. And that's not long at all. You are 1000% better than you were 5 minutes ago." -- My coach

You're not happy that summer break is coming because most rinks will be closed during this period (I feel lucky enough that mine is open until end of June :()

karne

You go to type "mission" and end up with "Mishin".

Your rink has a late, Saturday afternoon freestyle session and you decide to do it . . . but take a nap beforehand in order to be super well rested.

Bill_S

Don't forget the nap after skating to recover from the exercise.

(Maybe like that doubles dream).... when you're in the car on the way to the rink and hear a song you love and start daydreaming of the choreography.... and realize half the things you'd do - you can't.  But then you go back to the fantasy choreography until the song ends.

This is everyone.

I have an amazing lunge in my fantasies
Yes I'm in with the 90's. I have a skating blog. http://icedoesntcare.blogspot.com/

Yeah, and my imaginary "skating/singing" in the car song is always something that's too fast or advanced for my present ability or is something that would totally not be appropriate for a 46 year old bronze broad.   Something like Thunderstruck by AC/DC or, a softer side, "River Deep, Mountain High" by Tina Turner or Celine Dion and a crazy song, "Thunder" by Prince, or a classic Ambrosia song, "You're the only woman."     Now, you all should be laughing. :P

Haha!  Mine was Queen  -  We Will Rock You if I remember correctly.

So, do they do that at Adult camps?   Bring your "guilty pleasure, car skating" song and try it at camp(where none of your local skaters or club would see you attempt it)?

Actually loving Walk of Life (of course) and Sultans of Swing, but I'd never be fast enough for WoL.

LOL, Sultans Of Swing.  Neat little song!   I'd pay money to see a great skater work with that one.

Walk Of Life, oh wow that IS a fast one.   1920's Charleston steps work with it pretty well, but that's WAY beyond my pay grade on skates.   My mind immediately made the obvious leap to Bruce Springsteen's Glory Days.   Which is way slower, but still high energy.  Would LOVE to social pairs dance to that when I'm no longer a hazard on ice.    (I challenge you not to do a hand-in-the-air jump at the 2:03 "Woop!".)

I recently got this album, and on hearing this sweet little song:

http://gregjohnson.bandcamp.com/track/dont-be-the-one-4

... I immediately thought "Dutch Waltz!" (or in fact any of the 6/8 waltzes).   In fact I think I'll take it to the rink today if it's not too busy.

These two others grabbed me as ice dancing fodder too, but I haven't figured out what dances they'd suit:

http://gregjohnson.bandcamp.com/track/handles-of-pearl-4  (fast, but wow you could tell a story with this)

One day, one day...

you practice in a dress and tights (a rarity for me) and realize on the way home from the rink that you need something from Home Depot... and honestly consider running in "just for a minute" in said dress.  (For the record, I didn't, but it was really, really hard not to do it.)
