I thought I'd post a review... I'm not affiliated with the company in any way.

So a few years back I noticed that Main Street Dancewear was going to start a skatewear line.  And I immediatly fell in love with their Triple Keyhole Back Dress and got it as a present, and used it for 2 different test sessions.

Now, I'm skating again and needed two new dresses.  I immediatly went for these dresses because they are well made, and affordable.  I decided to pay a few extra dollars and go through FigureSkateWear.com  (You have to call or email to order- her prices are like $2 per dress higher than through Mainstreet, but she has free shipping at $100 so I didn't pay shipping.  These dresses are also available through various retailers, but availability differs) because I wanted some help on sizing.   Judy was wonderfully helpful.  She talked me out of the dress I wanted, suggesting that it would only look good on the most toned of stomachs (which I do not have) and suggested dresses that have longer skirt backs.  Then she helped me with sizing- I was thinking of ordering a large, but she told me it would swim on me.  Then, she told me that the dresses aren't currently in stock, and take 8 weeks to order.  I only had 6 weeks.  She guaranteed they'd get here.  And they did- with 2 weeks to spare.  So what seemed like a very long wait was actually much shorter than what I expected to have to wait.

One dress fits me perfectly, the other is a bit tight in the arms.  Both are fully lined, and use plush fabrics, and have double layer skirts.  The workmanship is excellent and I was pleased to find out that she has them made in the USA.

I just could not be happier, and can't believe that I got two competition dresses for $145 total, simpler practice dresses are even less expensive.  I did buy rhinestones for them, but honestly the fabrics are such that they really don't need them.  Count me as impressed.

I would love to see pics of your dresses. How exciting and wonderful that you got new dresses you like at such a great price too! Also, the customer service sounds excellent and to be honest, I think CS is lacking in a lot of ways now days. A local seamstress has horrible CS. I will not ask her to make my daughter another dress. She is talented, but her communication skills are seriously lacking and I get frustrated with her lack of professionalism. So, to hear about an online business like Figure skatewear is refreshing! Options are always good!

I would also love to see your dresses, I'm wanting to know which ones you got!!! I keep going back to her website, her prices are soooo reasonable, even for her customs (which I believe I would get, because I would want a longer skirt, sleeves, etc).  I'm always wanting a "go-to" dress that I can wear whenever, not for competitions, but for practice.

There are pictures on my blog (link in signature).  I was so excited to get them, that I tried them on right out of the shower- so I have a towel on my head...(I just came home very sweaty from freestyle...)

The skirt styles are short- and it was expensive to have it changed to a longer skirt (essentially it's like having a semi-custom dress made, because they have to cut a brand new dress for you- since the dress has to be taken apart to change the skirt, but they need to make sure all the fabric is the same dye lot for matching) so she counseled me against it.  She does know what an adult skater needs, because she is one herself, so she was good about letting me know which fabrics would flatter a less in shape skater (not the double layer meshes...velvet runs larger than lycra), and which skirts had longer backs.  I didn't take a photo from behind, but while the skirt is short in front, it is a very good length in back.  Manleywoman has a custom dress of hers- so if you want actual custom she can tell you how the process went.

The arms on the red are tight not just squeezing my arms, but lifting them- but my arms are a little fatter than I'd like right now, so hopefully I can fix that. I'm going to wear it in practice this weekend, and if it doesn't rip- it's good to go! It doesn't restrict the movement, just makes me nervous...

I don't know how she keeps her prices so low, especially since they are made in the USA.

I also enjoyed my experience with Figure Skatewear.com...I got 4 dresses from her last year and wore one for our show - the turquois one that is my profile pic, a red one that I stoned for a friend as her show dress last year and 2 others and I will say that the dresses are amazing, and the customer service sealed the deal.

My only wish would be for more styles of dresses :)

they are both beautiful dresses! I see what you mean about the tightness, but maybe it will relax a bit as you wear it.  the one I keep eyeing is: http://www.figureskatewear.com/74974/ I like the mix of colors on it (gotta tone up those arms hahaha). Although I still don't like short skirts....I'd wear this dress.

Spanx should make a "skater friendly" line of undergarment....just sayin' cause I still have my baby tummy that won't go away  >:(

I considered that one too, but ultimately decided the skirt was too short for my butt...

I wish it was available in a dance-length! I would have bought it a long time ago....i really like the colors and the back.

Well she'll do it in that length, but then you're looking at a semi-custom dress with price to match.  And to me the major attraction of the line is the price.  I understand the reason for the price for longer skirts- but it was much higher than I expected. (I can't remember the exact figure, but it was 3x what I expected her to say)
