Competitors must be a member of ISI or USFS. Californa residents who have not qualified, must qualify by winning a medal in the 2011 California Winter Games being held March 5-6.

Per blue111moon, wait until March 2011 to register for the National State Games of America.
There have been several revisions to the events and there may be more changes.

Kudos to Lake Placid for stepping up to the plate and hosting the Winter Games after NYS cut it from the budget.

When are State Games of N.C. this year?  And where?

blue111moon

Please note  that the State Games of America figure skating announcement has been revised again (most recent date is 2/14/11, which is at least the third revision that I've noticed since it was originally posted).  Since the organizers are charging entrants $10 for every change made after the entry is submitted to them, it might be a good idea to wait and see if if there are any further revisions.  The deadline isn't until May 15th so there's plenty of time.

I have no experience with State Games, but what revisions were made?

That's the thing, it's hard to tell, since the revisions aren't highlighted or noted anywhere.  I found out about the revisions at Bay State Games when two different copies of the announcement surfaced - the orginal said that all the events would be judged under ISI rules. Then the USFS sanction came through and that was changed.   Then the free skate and test track rules for USFS were intermingled.  Now I see that they've straightened out the Test Track and WBP requirements to match the USFS Rulebook and I think a couple of the levels in the Compulsory Moves portion may have changed elements.  It's been very confusing.  Even the BSG organisers were advising qualifying skaters to wait until at least March to enter.

Anyway, I keep checking.  At least they're posting the date of the latest revision now.

Good advice - I'll change the initial post to reflect the March 2011 wait date.

They really should waive the change fee if they've added or revised events.

Thanks for the notation.  It's my understanding (and I could be wrong) that the organizers in CA are predominantly ISI people and are not familiar with USFS rules.  As questions come up, they are fixing things, hence the revisions.  But I would think that if there haven't been any changes for a month or so, then it should be safe to enter.

I do know that if I  found that a later change to the announcement forced me to change an event I'd altready entered, I'd balk - loudly - and being charged $10.  If the mistake is on my part, though, (say I clicked on Pre-Juv instead of Preliminary), then I can understand the fee.  A couple of the club competitions around here due that - but only after the deadline.  It teaches people to read announcements and fill out forms carefully.

You were absolutely right: they created separate ISI and USFSA events - the USFSA ones are actually in another facility!

It's funny that the Surfing event results are listed, lol.  When I think of surfing, I do think of Hawaii and California!
I guess they held those events earlier - the figure skating runs from August 4th - 7th, 2011.
