Ice House Adult Camp is canceled again for 2011.  Looks like I have to wait another year to go to a big adult clinic near me...

"The 2011 Adult Camp has been cancelled."
You have GOT TO BE KIDDING!!!! Man! We were so looking forward to this! (shuffling off to email the ladies....)

I would like to do the G2C but it's too long, too expensive, and probably too intensive for us....(and sounds like it's geared to the kids).

There have been a few G2C seminars in this area (one was just held locally) and they welcomed adults (a friend went and he said it was fantastic), but you had to be working on an axel to register (you didn't have to have landed it). I don't know if that's a seminar requirement, or a local requirement.

I only just started on my lutz lol! I'm sure we'll figure something out. Last year the ladies rented a condo for a week at Ocean City, Maryland and skated at a hotel that had an ice rink.

The G2C  has three levels, basic jumps, axles/doubles and working on triples so you would be more than fine.I would assume they would welcome adults, I think a few of the coaches are geared to working with adults. It is expensive, we wouldnt be going if I hadnt of won one registation though an auction.
Hope you find something!

Thanks for the info! If they have a seminar in our area we might consider it, otherwise we will do our "summer condo camp" which I missed last summer because of classes.  I did notice that U of De is having a one-day seminar for the STARS program, might look into that.

That looks like fun. And I'd like to go--it does say 'All Levels' so old / slow/ but willing to shake her booty might be okay.  But OMG, the website is a horror.

Updated 5/13/2011 with link

I just signed up for this adult seminar. I've only been to Sun Valley once, to train some off-ice coaches at a fitness facility called Zenergy, but that was before I started skating myself. Any recommendations about where to stay?

PS - according to the website, the registration deadline is coming up soon. Will I see any of you there this summer?

Do you know if the adult weeks are concurrent with kids camp or exculsively for adults?  I would like to take a few adult classes while my daughter attends kids camp.  Are the activities this week geared strictly toward adults?  Thank you!  -Very helpful forum, I'm glad I stumbled upon it!

Welcome to Lake Placid Adult Figure Skating!

You will be starting the week off on Sunday with a reception at 7pm (location TBD). Coaches will be introduced and copies of all schedules will be available. Skaters may register at the 3-5pm registration or they can wait until the reception.

Throughout the week, you can skate on any adult session that you choose. You may also choose to participate in on-ice and off-ice group classes or special seminars. Private instruction is also available and we suggest that you contact the coach of your choice prior to your arrival.

Back again this year by popular demand is the Wednesday night party! Put away your skating attire and get dressed up for a night of fun! It will be a night to remember featuring games, drinks and prizes.

The week will conclude with an Adult Exhibition followed by a reception in the Hall of Fame Room on Saturday.

If you're still deciding whether or not to come, let some other adults tell you about their experiences...

Yes, the adult weeks are concurrent with the kids on separate ice surfaces & with separate off-ice activities. Last time I was at LP there were several moms on the adult ice with their kids in the other program. It seems to work out really well for the whole family.
