Thinnees socks

I've been using these for a year or so and recently had to buy more as the originals were getting holes in the heels. I bought a couple of pairs, all of which were the same size (different colors) but when I opened them out the lengths of the individual socks varied wildly, and not just from pair to pair. The difference from the longest to the shortest was 2" 
I just wondered if anyone else had found sizing of these socks to vary so much, and if so if it was a recent thing as the original pairs I got were fine?
I did email the company several weeks ago and haven't heard back.
