Question about Callaghan
« on: August 30, 2010, 12:28:55 PM »
I noticed a poll on FSU asking people who they thought Kim's next coach was gonna be.. and Richard Callaghan was one of the choices. Is this serious, or just a joke? I thought he retired from the competitive scene and started coaching at some rink.

I think everything over there is just speculation.

Just because he was retired doesn't mean he'll stay that way if a big-shot comes a calling, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

"Some rink" is all a skater needs... the rinks become famous because of the skaters they grow or attract.

Kimmie Meissner was coached by Callaghan from 2008 to 2009.  She's since moved back to Maryland and hasn't been skating competitively.  She's now being coached by Chris Conte, according to Wikipedia.  I believe she did a charity show not too long ago and Flo said she skated beautifully.

This original question was in reference to Kim Yuna, when she left Brian Orser.

Oh, I thought she meant Meissner, not Yu-Na.  I didn't see the FSU thread Sierra referenced.

ETA: No wonder - this thread is from late Aug 2010.
I never saw this thread before.  There was a discussion about Meissner on FSU recently, so I made an assumption.

Thanks.

Last I heard, Richard Callahan was coaching in Florida and sticking to younger kids, as in non-nationals levels.

That was my understanding as well...I thought he was in FL coaching with Todd Eldrige

Ah, that's why looplover misses Florida, lol.  Todd Eldredge.  (j/k)
