Other then an ankle punching, they fit really well out of the box. They don't look much wider then the standard C, but it must be enough of a difference because we had to really open up the C boot toebox and nothing had to be done for the Ds (so far anyway).

I learned Edea is split width by one size, so a D skate has a C heel. The B heel of the C width fit better on her previous pair, so we are probably going to snug the new pair in a bit, but we're waiting a week or so until the insides meld to her feet first.

Definitely worth the wait to order them in the D's, DD is super happy. I think going to a good tech who knows what he is doing and takes the time to make small adjustments is everything with Edea.

That's great!!  Please let us know how the heel narrowing adjustment works out!

hello,

I am trying to find how wide is actually Edea D but cannot find this info anywhere  :'(
I have narrow heal but large toe box (transversely flat leg). I tried C and it was like Spanish boot torture. :sweat :sweat
do you think D could fit? it is not at the stock anywhere.

I couldn't find anything online.  Could you write to Edea and ask for the width measurements?  Width is usually measured by circumference of the ball of the foot.

Apparently Edea has an "E" width now.

We thought they fit really well, and for many, they probably do. My DD has such finicky feet that she didn't wear the Edeas very long before we had custom Harlicks made and now she is in a pair of custom Reidells (which seem okay, but we are only one month in). I don't think the D was wide enough but my daughter measures AA heel and EE ball. Hope that helps!

I had to go through a dealer to get a D width Edea, and even then it took four months for me to receive them because according to the dealer "Edea was focusing on replenshing their stock". So even though my boots were paid in full, I somehow got shoved to the back of the line and watched a bunch of skaters at my rink get Edeas while I waited for mine. :(

That said, they're way better than my C width were, but my feet are still too wide for the D and I'm now looking into Harlicks in the near future.

Same story for us, took a crazy long time for the Edeas to come in and then they didn't really work. We tried Harlicks next and those were better, but still caused some pain. This last time we decided to try Riedell full customs with a trip to the factory for the fitting and they did a fantastic job! Best fitting boots she has had to date.

I was measured by David Ripp at Adult nationals last year and all that is written on the measurement card he gave me is the length of each foot in MM and the size boot I need, but nothing about width. Even the Edea site does not mention different widths, at least for men's boots.

I tried on a Chorus, which was very uncomfortable right out of the box but he assured me spot heat molding would fix that, and an Ice Fly which felt like a form fitted slipper right out of the box. I don't know if those were different widths or if the basic construction and/or last is different. If I had the money and the skill level to justify an Ice Fly I would have walked out with a pair.

In spite of Edea's claim (echoed by David Ripp) that you can't overboot with an Edea, my coach, who does not skate in Edea's, and several skaters that do have Ice Fly's, an Ice Fly is definitely wayyyy too much boot for a pre-bronze/bronze level skater, not to mention the cost.

THANK YOU. I've been trying to tell this to people and this still go "You can't overboot in an Edea". You ABSOLUTELY can. I was fine in Ice Fly as a bronze/silver skater but I also was rough on my boots and heavier when I got them. I'd also been skating since I was a kid. Someone just coming to skating unable to bend their knees fully, they will overboot themselves like no one's business.

OMG, AA heel and EE ball??!  Good for Reidell making boots that fit her!

Yep, it's a total nightmare!!! Fitter conversation goes something like this "oohh, hhmmm, ah (long pause) her feet are wide - very wide, (sucking in through teeth sound) that's a really narrow heel...". She has been asked if she was interested in swimming - good paddles - LOL.

I think that is why we really needed to go in person to the boot maker and Riedell is in driving distance from us. They did an amazing job, she also is flat footed, pronates, and has a quite large achilles tendon but is narrow through the ankle area. So far, so good with the Riedell customs and I think we've had them for about 6 weeks now.
