I recently got used Jackson Classique skates in size 4.5 B. I haven't skated in them yet but when I tried them on this morning they felt a little tight at the front so I re-measured my foot and found that I am closer to a size 4C in Jackson skates (yes I know my feet are small for an adult). Would this size difference be enough of a problem to have to purchase a different pair of skates?

I'd just get them punched out where it is tight.

I wore skates a size small for awhile (3c, I was remeasured as a regular 4) and I got cqlluses on my toes from where they crunched into the boot, but it didnt effect my skills.  When I was in a regular 3 my feet fell asleep in minutes, and i could barely skate.  They only hurt while skating, not off ice. I was so mad at the fitter who threw my $250 down the drain...the skates were awful for me, even if i could get my feet in.

So if they feel okay, on the ice, you should be fine.

I had 6B for a year and half before I figured out I'm rather 5B. I managed to learn the easier single jumps in them alright, but the right ankle really complained when I got to flip jump and the skates broke down. Calluses developed on the ball of right foot too because the foot was moving too much.

In my case the skates were simply too big, don't know how the tight feeling will affect your skating though. Again, a lot depends on how the off the actual feeling is, and what skills are you working on. Punching out is a possible solution, do you have a good pro shop nearby? :)

I'm just starting Freestyle 1. I'm going to try them out on the ice tomorrow maybe. Thanks for everyone's advice :D

Half a size is probably okay.. but even if you measure at a 4, you may fit a 4.5 better anyways.  It's not until you are talking about full size or more than you really start to get into issues with the spin rocker not being in the right place, which will cause problems obviously with spinning, but also turns and jumps too.

You can have them stretched or punched to get more width in the ball area if you feel like they're too narrow.

I'd definitely recommend a good professional fitting for your next pair of skates though... it's much better if you can know a certain size is right than feel like you are guessing :)

If you are jumping, make sure esp. the landing foot does not move inside the skate :)

Would you mind posting your measurements? There should be around 1/4" allowance for the length...

I tried them out today and they actually really comfortable! I'm so happy!

Although they feel really different from my previous skates and my left toe pick touches the ice a lot, especially when I do an outside edge  (hopefully it's because of my inexperience with larger toe picks and not the blade itself :-\ ). They're going to take some getting used to.
