I thought it might be useful to get a sense of the distribution of ages of the skating forum members. We have people from their late teens to their 60s. How many are in which age group?

Even if you never, ever post, but only read, please fill out this poll. We really want to know.

The standard answer: old enough to vote, lol.

"Three months in figure skating is nothing. Three months is like 5 minutes in a day. 5 minutes in 24 hours - that's how long you've been working on this. And that's not long at all. You are 1000% better than you were 5 minutes ago." -- My coach

Older than my daughters and grandson, younger than my parents.

My driver's license (which I can change the name on next week) claims that I'm 48.

25...but I can pass for 21

Oh, honey hang on to that as long as you can. I'm sixty and on a good day with the light behind me, I can pass for 45. And I'm holding on to every damn year!
Yes I'm in with the 90's. I have a skating blog. http://icedoesntcare.blogspot.com/

One of the kids at the rink reckons I was born in the 12th Century (bless her). I'm looking really good for my 900+ years!

Skate@Delaware

I'm 49 and not the oldest woman skating at my rink (altho for a while I was!). Sometimes I feel 90 depending on how much my body hurts lol  ;D

27 and I can still pass for 21.  :)

23 but pass for 17/18.

When I started working there all my coworkers assumed I was in high school and asked where I was graduating from. When I said the local state university in December they were shocked. They were more shocked to find out I was 22 at the time.

jenniturtle

i am 48 years old and am just took my first class of adult learn to skate!

MadMac

WooHooooo! You GO, Jenniturtle!!
I started skating at age 46. Now 56 and still gliding on!

Kim to the Max

I also have the issue where people think that I am younger than I am. One of the 18 year olds at the rink thought I was early to mid-20's and was shocked when I told her that I was 31!

MadMac

Me too. People have a hard time believing me when I tell them my daughter is 34.

Sierra

I have the opposite issue :P People sometimes mistake me for 18+. I've had people ask me what college I go to, when I've only done one year of highschool.

I honestly have no clue what it is that makes me look older to some people. I don't have an adult body whatsoever.

Oh my goodness, this is almost exactly my story! I'm nearly 23 as well and yet people think I'm not yet out of college! I absolutely shocked one of the other skaters last week when I told her I graduated university at the end of the year!

I'm still uncertain as to whether it's a complement to have people go, "Oh my god, I thought you were 17/18/19"! Is it good to be told you look young? I have this overwhelming terror of coming off as immature.

The only place looking like 18 has worked against me is my love life. lol. When I first started at the rink I had a 17 year old trying to flirt with me and he asked what school I went to and I said University of Blank, I'm 22 (at that time I was) and he was shocked.... lol.
