Glueing Rhinestones help?

How flexible is E600?  I've stoned the fabric of my dress, and tried it on, and it is all good.

However, my coach recommended I put stones on the mesh neckline of the dress- like a diamond necklace.  But I'm concerned because I can't figure out any good way to really stretch it out while stoning (I tried cardboard inserts, and they didn't do it) and it gets very stretched while on me.  I know the E600 stretches on the velvet fabric, but if I glue onto the neckline, will it be able to stretch enough?

Also- any tips for what to put under it so that I don't glue it to the cardboard insert that I use to keep me from glueing the two sides of the dress together? 


I like coach's idea, so I'd like to do it- but I'm just not sure how to make it happen...

I have never had troubles with either hot fixing or glueing stones to a neckline. Actually, one of the people in this area prefers E6000 to hotfix for that area.

In terms of putting something between, I usually use a cutting board that stretches the fabric just slightly.

I can't figure out how to stretch the neckline... I used a board to stretch the back a little though.

I don't think I have actually stretched the neckline of a dress to put the stones on. I usually just glue them on as is...

To stop the glue going through and gluing the front and back together, I use silicon baking paper wrapped around my flat beading board (since it won't stick down I have to wrap it around!)  I save the paper to reuse it.

That's what I use too, it works really well for hotfix.  I draw the pattern onto the baking paper, place the stones on, lift the whole lot up with mylar paper, then iron on.  Works really well.  I imagine it'd work well as a backing for the glue too.

I have never pre-stretched the fabric for gluing/hotfixing, have never felt the need, and it hasn't made a difference to the stones staying on.

I'm all done now. I did stretch it lightly, but not too much. It has Like 200% stretch when I wear it, so it just worried me that the glue would prevent some of the neckline stretch.

I used fewer stones than I thought I would, so now I'm going to decorate everything I see to use them up. Pictures soon.

Also, if the flower for your hair (mentioned in the blog post) is fabric, you could always add a few rhinestones to it too... since you have extra!

Way less time than I thought. I did it over a weekend, maybe 9-12 hours total of glueing but 2 full days of some attention ? But most of the decoration comes on the fabric. I just added rhinestones. The flowers and glitter are part of the stock dress.
