I mean a practical one that I can use after each sharpening pass.

R45,

According to my experience, tapered and parabolic blades are usually with side-honed. So, my answer would be "no". However, it seems some blades like MK professional model have Tapered feature(according to my experience with old model). So, assume this tapering process is in a perfect parallel manner, the precision square would do the job. Or, you can only check the blade on the front, Stanchion areas with the flat part on the square.

If you are looking for digital device something, I don't think there is something work precisely.

Certainly, that is my experience. Maybe somebody would have other opinion and new finding, it's totally possible.

Regards.

Oh, do you mean to check the sharpness? I just talked about the squareness...

R45

It's for checking even edges.
All the blade edge checkers I know work only on parallel blades because they make a 90° angle against the blade and over the edges.
I want to check for even edges on different spots along the blade.
Most figure blades are not straight; they are warped a little bit.
If they are warped too much, when sharpened, it results in one part with even edges and the other part with uneven edges.
I can correct this but after each pass I must check the evenness of the edges.

Yes, squareness is evenness. So, I think there is little chance you can get one device practical enough.

The holder(carriage) of Incredible edger have the feature of clamping the blade to an acceptable straightness....

This is why I don't like parabolic or tapered blades even though I loved the feel of them when skating.  I am not skilled enough to think I can sharpen them properly.  I go by eye, which is obviously problematic if you want science, but it yielded good skating results for me and by a sharpener guy I went to who took "by eye/feel to an extreme."  For others I'd want to back things up with measurable science, so I never found a good solution.

Kaitsu is much more tech-ie and may be able to recommend something?

Unfortunately Parabolic and side honed blades are what they are. Honing's at the blade are very uneven so I have not used them as datum. See attached picture.

I use stanchions as a datum + I verify that blades are straight with DIN 874 Knife straight edge. If blade is not straight, I will try to straighten them as good as possible.

Since IE figure skate carrier clamps the blade from the stanchions, I have developed method to use stanchions as a measurement datum even the skate is in the holder. When I use precision square, I can check evenness only from two positions and one side of the blade. Rest is in hands of God.

Long time a go there was special version of H.D.I gauge for side honed blades. It had spring loaded pins which were supposed to center the tool even the blade does have side honing and/or taper shape. This tool was one of the most expensive sharpening related decor item I have ever purchased.
