How to make skating safe pads stay under tights?

I am finally trying my Skating safe pads...
Under my compression tights they stay on nicely, but how do you keep them under skating tights?  I put them under 2 pairs of tights on and they still slide down (and that is not even skating, just walking).

I know they sell a retention sleeve, but then you have the "stuffed sausage" look on your legs.
Ideas?

Tomorrow night I am going to use a double layer of tubigrip  with the fold at the bottom. Because tubigrip comes in so many sizes it should be easier to choose a size that grips without indenting too much. I chose size E for light compression from a size chart. So far they have stayed up for walking. If it doesn't work out, I am going to try a different size. HTH

Interesting idea!   When you say with the fold at the bottom, do you mean, you will fold the tubigrip in half and place the bottom edge of the pad into that fold?

I skated in them today for the very first time- under compression tights.  They stayed in great!  However, there was so much sweat that both of my 2 layers of tights were soaked around and below the pads.   Do you know if tubigrip holds up on wet skin as well?

I think that sweat comes with the territory.  I skate with d3o padded snow board shorts and I'm always sweaty at the end of the session.  I don't think it makes much difference whether the pads are incorporated into the garment or stuffed into compression shorts or tubigrip type products.  Heat gets trapped either way.  I'll take a little sweat over an injury any day.

I wore mine tonight. I didn't find a problem with sweat.I wasnt working that hard, but I do hate feeling too warm. I wore my usual thick cotton leggings with very thin leggings underneath. The tubigrip and knee pads and elbow pads with retention sleeves might have made me feel a bit warmer, than usual but it was also 21 degrees C outside.
I am doubling up the tubigrip because the instructions say that is how tubigrip is used, and I figured the fold was better at the bottom holding up the pad, rather than at the top. I put the pad between the layers as like you, I didnt like the feel of the pad gripping onto the skin of my knees. The pads didnt move at all. There are 2 issues, both minor. The cut ends tend to fray, and my leggings have bits of white stuff inside. I guess the fraying will stop. The top end of the tubigrip ended up a bit bunched round my thighs which was slightly uncomfortable. It is possible I need a slightly bigger size, but since I have 10 m of it, I will probably wait.
Any ideas as to how to secure my Akton pads over my hips? I don't think tubigrip comes that big

That's exactly how I hold mine up/in and have done so for some years. I use size F tubigrip in nude rather than "natural" and it just about disappears visually under tights. I have to replace the tubigrip about once a year as the cut raw edges unravel a bit.

2 pairs of bike shorts, one inside the other, wrong sides together, and sewn together where you want the Akton padding. Sew them together in the shape you've cut the padding, at the base where the padding will rest, then as far up the sides of the padding as you can manage while still getting the padding comfortably inserted into the slot you're creating. You might need to fold the padding to insert it, then put your hand into the slot to straighten it out. Padding can be removed for washing the shorts.

I wear Mondor tights & Chloe Noel pants. I put the knee pads between the tights & the pants & they stay in place. I put the hip pads under the tights against my skin, otherwise they will slide down. I have to peel the hip pads off when I'm done. The sweat makes them stick to my skin.

I put velcro on my hip pads using PVC cement.  It lasts a few months, and then I have to cement them again.  I also tuck the pads into a belt sometimes.  I also wear compression shorts as previously suggested on this board for those of us who do not wear tights, but it is not sufficient on its own.

Those are great ideas. I like the idea of 2 bicycle shorts, as it minimises the need to tailor pockets, just a bit concerned they will be too warm. I have googled nude tubigrip, but it doesn't seem available in the UK?

These ideas all might work for me, but I am in a chicken and egg situation at the moment, as I haven't cut out my hip pads from the Akton pads, as I'm not sure how much of my bottom to encase  ;D. Bit concerned about finishing off the edges, and what shape to cut. So I'm not yet sure what weight I need to support!
By pvc cement, do you mean the pvc pipe cement?

Does the pvc cement leave a residue, hard or otherwise. or does it peel off cleanly from the pads? And does the pvc cement last in the pot between applications, or does it set? Thanks

The cement should last.  The cement is supposed to stay between the velcro and the pads, but when it comes off it comes off cleanly.
