you don't flinch when someone skates less than two feet from you.
Yes I'm in with the 90's. I have a skating blog. http://icedoesntcare.blogspot.com/

Great!  And here I thought I was just being stiff, old and inattentive!

You know you're a real figure skater when you keep buying classical music CDs to find the perfect piece to skate to.

You are a real skater when you hire Phillip Mills to choreograph your program to......Shake your groove Thang. And it works!

You are a real figure skater when one of the eight year olds that you know at the rink can skate up to you, grab you by the waist, spin you around while saying "Watch this!" and you don't fall over.

I can see where Phillip would love this!  What fun.

You're a real skater when you post pictures of your injuries on skating forums

;D  ;D

At least it's not as gory as my pictures in the original (now locked) Injured Reserved List from almost two years ago! I was under the influence of pain killers then. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.  :)

Bumping this thread.

Today I picked up a new pair of boots. My skate tech told me, "You know what you want, let me know if they fit." Then after he put the new blades on, he said "I left the blades set so you can make adjustments on your own."

I'm now a real skater. I'm expected to make my own adjustments to my equipment.

You go to a work conference, book a hotel closer to the rink than the conference center. Then you lug your skates to the conference wearing accessoring skating clothes in order to look" professiona"; you leave the conference for coffee and lunch breaks to go skate.

No.... I don't have my priorities mixes up... :WS:
Let your heart and soul guide your blades

You're driving to work and it's 65 F outside. But still, the air conditioning is on in the car and dialed to full cool.

You are wearing a short sleeve shirt, and find the climate perfect.

When you're in a conference room where the temp is set to "meat locker" and you're the only one even remotely comfortable.

tstop4me

you see an exquisitely beautiful young lady executing a perfect spiral down the length of the ice, and you think to yourself, "Gee, I wonder what boots and blades she's using?"

LunarSkater

when you're trilled about the fact that your new job is 45 minutes from the rink on average, but it means you can go skating every single day of the week if you wanted.

You walk around off-ice in your skates and guards faster than you do in regular shoes. And if you want something to eat real quick, you just walk over in your skates and guards to one of the nearby restaurants.

You can stop a a store on the way home from the rink in a skate dress and not feel self-conscious at the odd looks you get.

You're a professor, but can't wait for classes to start next week because adult public skate sessions return as well.

Bonus:  You decide it's reasonable to go to the first adult session instead of the president's opening address, because the text of her speech gets posted online later anyways.

And doubly so, if you're a guy!  ::>)   (Cough cough, not looking at any skater with the initials JW at all).

I used to do this, but I had one woman come up to me in a cafe asking me whether my 4 year old had dressed me which I thought was a bit rude.

The real reason I stopped walking around in skating skirts and dresses was when I was involved in a major car accident and I was stood giving a report to the police in the skating outfit. I apologised for my outfit and the police officer said don't worry m'am we've seen it all before... I decided not to ask, there aren't THAT many skaters...
