I won't deny that I've been evaluating my driveway to determine feasibility.  My old pair of skates might do nicely.

I expected to see a toddler in the video, but the skater is older and skates very well.

I wonder if her fall was because she hit pavement through the ice?

I may or may not have skated on some frozen water in a horse arena at a local park yesterday.... Got about 2 hours of practice on my 3-turns. Free ice time...

I remember skating down our sidewalk as a child - trouble was that it was quite a steep slope, so took quite a bit of effort to get home

There was something that abruptly stopped her blade.  Pebble, pavement . . . but it was a nasty fall.   While this may have been fun, I'll think twice before risking that nasty of a fall.

Very nice fall. Beautiful roll through her back, nothing sudden about the impact. Very fast, well trained reflexes, like someone who's had a lot of practice. Doubt it hurt much at all.

Look at her expression at the end. Slightly sheepish, not really hurt, still smiling.

My personal experience: outdoor ponds wear out blades a lot faster than most indoor rinks. The cost savings is more virtual than real. Nice smooth well groomed rinks are also a lot more predictable for trying tricks.

I remember skating on my street when I was a kid.  It was awesome!  I practiced mainly my figures since it was too narrow to anything that required speed.  I recall being a bit frustrated, because the street wasn't perfectly flat, it was domed in the middle, so the practice wasn't as useful as it might have been.  But it sure was fun!
