Hi
Any recommendation for pro shops in NY NJ OR CT?  I usually go to Hackensack, but he had to cancel our apt for his last Saturday and since we only have one car, I can only go on weekends and I think his only other day off during the week too.  Besides he is booked up now.   I have been to Chealsea in the past but they almost put her in the wrong size.  I say almost because they put her in a size 5 and I KNOW she is no where a size five. No we did not buy:  I am a size five in that brand and I pretty much said look at my foot and look at her foot, she is no where near a size five.  So once all that padding compressed, she would be in a way too big boot.

Thanks

Joe Delecki from Eastern Ice Sports in NJ is good; he leans more towards a tight fit than other fitters.

He used to be at the Beacon Hill Club in Summit, but he may have moved his business elsewhere, so ask for him by name.

I use Jim @ Ice House in Hackensack.  He's super busy and I usually have to book a month in advance, but he's worth it.

The OP asked for recommendations OTHER than Jim in Hackensack because he does have limited availability and he requires appointments weeks in advance.

I guess I was trying to say that Jim is worth waiting for.  Unless the need for new skates is immediate, booking an appointment for a month from now is better than ending up with poor fitting skates from a less skilled fitter.

In NJ, Joe Delecki's just as skilled.  For that matter, Rich Liebenow is also on par with both, but I think he retired last year.
(Correct me if I'm wrong.)
I think Danbury, CT has a good fitter, too, but I don't know what the person's name is off the top of my head.

I understood the OP's position completely.  The scheduling issue and lack of customer service has been an issue with Jim for a number of years.  Frankly, having to make appointments over a month in advance, leave work early to race up the Turnpike to accommodate his limited hours, then being treated like a drop-in is surely reason enough to find someone who wants my business.  I used Jim regularly until it took over 2 hours to sharpen a pair of blades with an appointment because he was constantly interrupted by other customers who just walked in.

Wow.  That right there would have cost him my business.  I had to schedule our appointment far in advance, but then he did give us his attention during that time.  He was able to properly fit my narrow-footed daughter as well as correcting the way the blade was set to compensate for her overpronation on one foot.  If his customer service had been poor, I would not have recommended him because that's a huge pet peeve of mine.  If I waited for my time, you better darned well bet that is MY time!

thanks.  Jim is worth waiting for, but he did cancel his last Saturday apt till the fall and dd outgrew her skates.  We actually got a returned pair at a local shop in the same model and width combo just a bigger size, so far so good.

Danbury CT would that be at Skater's Landing?  Their hours are really accommodating and not as limited as Hack.  With only one car, we need to find a place with more hours.
