Very cute -- but at only 4% spandex don't know how well they would work for skating.  Has anybody here seen these yet up close & personal? How heavy is the fabric?

I think they're for just keeping warm. Yeah, you're right, not stretchy enough for skating.

I once saw a national level skater stepping on the ice in full zipper pants, then took it off mid-session after she warmed up. It was stretchy enough for her super bendy stuff, oh and matched the Team USA jacket perfectly color-wise. Not sure about this one though.

Maybe it's just me, but wouldn't it hurt to fall on the zipper part? They look quite practical otherwise, but that feature would be a turnoff for me  :sweat

I bought the Mondor full side zip pants and even they are hard to skate in. Great for warming up though or doing moves in an insanely cold rink. They were waaaaaay more than $35 too.

I have them, too, and they're great for skating in until you're warmed up.  I don't skate my program in them, but I'll do pretty much everything up to that.  I don't understand the point of the original zip-up leggings posted here, though.  They don't look warm enough that you'd want to take them off at any point. . .?

sigh....
to be a girl...

Full zipper or button pants are common for men- lots of sports use them for warm ups. In fact, I think they are easier to find for men than women. A few of the boys at our rink wear the kind that basketball teams warm up in, they button down both sides and can be taken off by just pulling, no need to pull them over skates.

One of the boys has attached elastics to the bottom so they fit snuggly to his skates, the others don't bother, as they mostly skate in track pants anyway. (All are doing doubles, I do not understand how they don't catch their blades, but it works for them)

I roll onto the side of my leg all the time, if not during the fall, just after it to stand back up again.
