The Hallmark Channel is airing last year's movie "Ice Dreams" this month.

9/12/2010 11am, 7pm
9/27/2010 9pm

QuoteFourteen years after a tragic accident, former Olympic figure skater Amy Clayton agrees to coach a young student.  In doing so, she must face the demons of her past and embark upon a journey of healing her shattered life and broken relationships. Stars Jessica Cauffiel, Brady Smith and Jerry Stiller.

I really liked this movie - it's still unrealistic, skating-wise, but it's sweet and has the traditional Hallmark Happy Ending.

I don't think they plan to release it on DVD.  It's not for sale in the Hallmarkchannel.com online store.  Some people have said they bought the DVD on eBay, but I'm certain those are bootleg copies.

It's playing this coming Monday, so be sure to watch it on the Hallmark channel.

I've never seen the movie before, so I watched it. First impression-- none of the actors can act!

Nice movie. I liked how it emphasized more of the hard work and didn't have any beginners landing triples (like Ice Princess.)

Anyone else see the scene where the skater (forgot her name) asked Amy to show her a double toe, and Amy goes and does a split jump and double flip? Glaring mistake there ;D

I mainly watch skating movies just to pick them apart, but I do like watching the skaters' programs and such. Too bad there isn't more skating movies.

No, that was intentional, not a "glaring mistake."  That was setting a tone for the first lesson and going forward.

Here's how that scene played out:

Amy asks Nikki to "show her what she's got."  Nikki starts popping off jumps, starting with a double loop and ending with a failed triple toe loop that causes her to splat.

Amy says that Nikki has no business trying a triple and that her doubles aren't strong enough.
Then she says "show me your double."  Nikki smart-mouths Amy, saying "Show me yours."

Amy skates away, does a split jump and then a double FLIP.  Amy earns Nikki's respect with that jump since Nikki knows that a double Flip is more difficult than a double Toe Loop, especially with a split jump right before it.

That wasn't an glaring error - that was throwing down the gauntlet.

I thought it was interesting that she does the split jump with a mohawk, but the double Flip with a 3-turn.  Since the camera cuts away in between those jumps, I guess they changed stunt skaters, lol.
