Are there any exercises that might help with backspin balance? I've been working on standing on my right leg, weight over the pinkie toe, while pushing my right hip under my body. Does anyone have any additional suggestions?

What about standing with eyes closed?  It really helps with developing balance and body awareness.  It is very difficult to do, though.
I practiced my backspin position off ice- in terms of turning to the right, arm position and turning in the foot.  Other than that,  for me it was just practice on ice over and over and over...... :-)

Dd used her spinner for off ice backspins.  ITA with irenar5 - for dd the biggest practice was doing it over and over and over on the ice.

Definitely a spinner. It helps you with proper weight shift and correct body position. I use a spinner to work on all of my spins; it's really good!
