Found an old list I had made of movies featuring figure skating or figure skaters.

Vintage Skating:

The DVR recorded "American Venus," which looks promising.  The summary says it's about a girl whose mother wants her to continue skating instead of going to college.

Blizzard (2003). A delightfully cheesy skating flick starring a reindeer. Another skater loaned it to me.

Don't forget the Snoopy cycle!

Most prominently She's a Good Skate, Charlie Brown - though that was a TV special.

American Venus was weird. Not much skating.

Maybe TV specials and skating performances don't count. Perhaps ISk8NYC is looking for movies in which skating plays a role, not just skating performances.

But any ice theater on the edge. I loved Riverdance On Ice. Like the off-ice Riverdance show, it sort of had a story, so it sort of is like a movie.

Torvill and Dean had a few films that might qualify. Like

 Fire and Ice
Dancing on Ice: The Story of Bolero with Torvill and Dean

I haven't seen either, so I can't tell for sure.

I think you've already got the big ones, unless you count roller skating.

Okay, time for hot chocolate and munchies, put on a movie... ;D

Does anyone have any movies, new or old, that feature some sort of non-hockey skating? I was thinking about this, and had a hard time thinking of any. The only one I could think of was "The Bishop's Wife", an old 1940's film about an angel coming to help out a bishop, and he starts falling for the bishop's wife...anyhow they go skating  :P

Any others?

Bumping for ONskater...

Seems like all Lifetime holiday special movies include at least one ice skating scene.

'The Cutting Edge' was a fun one! It's about a snotty female pairs skater who, after ruining her chances with all her skating partners, gets teamed up with a hockey player by her coach. :) good cheesy rom-com!

It is a figure skating cult classic.  Anytime some says "toe pick" after a splat on the ice, this movie is the reason.

Has anyone seen "On Edge" with Jason Alexander?
Yes I'm in with the 90's. I have a skating blog. http://icedoesntcare.blogspot.com/

Hallmark channel occasionally shows one called "Ice Dreams". It's kinda cheesy but the skating of the actors is actually pretty close to the body doubles. They clearly had some strong basic training so it's not as obvious as in Ice Princess. :)

Then of course there's Ice Castles and the remake of Ice Castles. :)

Blades of Glory???

Classic.

Hilarious. :o

"She's a Good Skate, Charlie Brown" is now available on DVD as part of this compilation:

Happiness Is Peanuts: Snow Days (2011)

This is a really cute video because creator Charles Schultz and his family were involved in both hockey and figure skating so the imagery is great and the plotline (while implausible) is sweet.  Snoopy coaches Peppermint Patty in the style of the legendary Carlo Fassi, which is hilarious.

Ooh yes, for me the best ever skating movie  8).  The original 1979 version thumps the modern remake.  Very moving and inspirational.  Not forgetting that beautiful theme song by Melissa Manchester.  I challenge grown men to remain dry-eyed after watching.  It helped that the lead actress was a real life figure skater.  It's the movie which inspires me to keep improving my skating.  A must watch for every self-respecting figure skater  :).

It's the funniest ice skating comedy  :P  Over the top and pokes fun at the stereotype of homosexual male figure skaters.  Ooh, and the lovely Jenna Fischer  (remember the boob grabbing scene? ;D)  My favourite Will Ferrell comedy to date (yes, thumping even Anchorman  ;)).
