I believe it was just announced on USFSA.org.

"BENSENVILLE, ILL., SELECTED TO HOST 2012 U.S. ADULT FIGURE SKATING CHAMPIONSHIPS

(6/8/11) - U.S. Figure Skating announced today that the 2012 U.S. Adult Figure Skating Championships, hosted by the Skating Council of Illinois, will be held April 10-14 at the Edge Ice Arenas in Bensenville, Ill.

The U.S. Adult Championships annually feature 400 skaters competing in more than 100 open events and eight championship events. The 2012 version will mark the 18th time the competition has been held.

Competitors are divided into five age groups (21-30, 31-40, 41-50, 51-60, 61+) and two tracks (masters and adults). Events are held in singles, pairs, ice dancing and interpretive. Skaters qualify for the championship and championship gold events by placing in the top four at one of three sectional championships, which will be held in March."

Bensenville did a nice job hosting ISI Synrcho Nationals this year, so I am looking forward to watching Adult Nationals there next year.

I hope that they have all the competitions on the rink that has spectator seating.  The other ice surface is larger, but it would be best if they only use it for practice, since there just isn't any way for a decent sized crowd to watch.

The 2 rinks @ the Edge will have competition events and John St will have PI

Now here's for me crossing my fingers that (1) I can pass my bronze FS test to qualify (ie, remain uninjured so that I can, in fact, practice) and (2) find the time and $$ to go to either Mids or ANs or possibly both.

I'm also hoping to pass my FS test!!!! AND get time off from work to go!!! My coach and I are driving so that will save us $$$ (it's about 14 hours from Delaware) plus, she has relatives there which saves on hotel.  I'm so excited I've been waiting for this for years!!!!  And Sectionals are close to us as well!!!! Woo-Hoo!!!!!

Did that rink also host the 2007 ISI Worlds?  Two sheets in one rink and then another across the street?  It was a nice set up.

It's only 6 hours away for me - so a definate possibility.  Bronze FS is passed.  It will just depend upon being able go get my flip and lutz back.

techskater

I am not sure about ISI Worlds, but this rink was the host for 2007 ANs.  The third rink (on John St) is down the block a little bit.

Ha, I don't have and have never had a flip and a lutz. I don't expect to be competitive. . .

LilJen, for some it's about getting there!

The year I went to AN, I got dead last.  I was just so happy to be there that I was almost crying the whole time before I skated.  Now I would like to be a little more competitive.

I would love to be able to get dead last.  I don't think I'll ever be able to pass the Bronze test.  I just don't think I have a third single jump in me :(

I'm taking the Bronze FS test next month...I'm hoping the judges are lenient & blink a lot during my sit spin lol!

Good Luck!

My coach has told me I can take the test whenever I want, based on other bronze skaters in the area- but if the judges are actually judging the elements, and not pity passing me, I shouldn't pass.

I am going to start skating up locally though.

Yeah, my coach has gone to several test sessions and has seen the adult Bronze testers....and says I should do well.  Jumping is my strong point, spins are NOT.  I figured, nothing ventured, nothing gained so I'm in.  How many comps are you planning on doing this year?

Just a few- only ones that are within an hours drive, so I think that is a max of 3-4 all year.  They are SO expensive, I don't think they are worth traveling for.  I'd rather take lessons.
