Hi!  :) It seems that most competitions will let a skater "skate up" one test level. I was wondering if this is also true at Sectionals/Nationals OPEN competitions. Someone told me that for QUALIFYING competitions you must skate your own level, but for OPEN it is ok to skate up. Is this right?

Adult Nationals events are technically open events, but you must register for your test level.

Sectionals non-qualifying events you can skate up.  I've done so in dance before!

OK. So Adult Sectionals I could skate up in an non-qualifying event, but at Adult Nationals, I would have to skate at my own level. Thanks.  :)

It depends on the individual competition, even for a non-qualifying event at an adult Sectionals competition.  Some local organizing committees and referees decide to allow it, while others don't.  You need to read the competition announcement to know for sure.
