"If you still look good after skating practice, you didn't work hard enough."

Year-Round Skating Discussions for Figure Skaters - www.skatingforums.com

Kim to the Max

Thank you for posting this!!

I have seen it before, but it is a good reminder that beyond the frustrations that come with skating, there is a pure joy that comes from being on the ice and you can hear it in her voice. It's that same twinkle you see in some kids' eyes when they step on the ice or the comment a friend made a few years back to a supervisor of mine that, "you haven't seen Kim truely happy until you have seen her on the ice."

I needed this today. I am becoming forever more frustrated with not just landing an axel but doing it right, and also trying to fix my double sal so that I can have a solid intermediate test and then be in a good position to potentially test novice in the future. Plus, I have to work on Thursday night so I needed to cancel my lesson and won't be able to skate. Despite these frustrations, I truly enjoy skating and can't imagine doing anything else with my time.

I loved hearing her talk about her skating and I'm impressed that she's still jumping at 81!

If she's not going to learn how to skate until she's 100, what hope is there for the rest of us? But I've always maintained that I still haven't learnt to skate, the non-skaters don't get that one, but this lady obviously understands.
