P.S. When you come in "last" you still beat everyone who was too chicken to show up.

I love that statement.
Courage doesn't always roar.  Sometimes it's the quiet voice at the end of the day that says, "I will try again tomorrow."

Love it!
And so true.
Just what I needed to hear this week (me and another friend are "fighting" for last place!).

Good luck fsk8r. Yep, I'm am one of those too scared to enter so you've beaten me for starters! :D

Did they get a decent number of entries? It is a possibility for me to try next year if it runs again as it is the next closest comp to home, after the Scottish. Who knows if the Scottish one will run or not given the last few years lateness / cancellation! 88)

Yes, there's a good number of entries. Mainly on the free side. I really should have entered dance as there are very few entered , but I wasn't going to ever be ready in time. I'm treating it as a gala with some judges feedback as I think most people are going to get the qualifying score and I don't need that as I'm already qualified for all categories I want to skate in.

I absolutely love that comment. I'm entering my first ever competition in a few weeks time and know I'll probably be last but I'm doing it for the experience, and as it's my first time no matter what the result it'll be my personal best   :)

I'd say do it.  Even if you haven't run the program in lord knows how long, you have music, choreography, and probably a dress.  To be quite honest, I'm going to AN in Canada and my program isn't quite done yet.  There is still lots of time if you put your mind to it, especially if your skills are already consistent.

Go for the fun of it.  Don't worry about the results.

Well I stood at the boards yesterday waiting to skate and I told one of the other ladies this. Someone else had read the comment, and we discussed how true it was. We all went out there and had fun.
I thought about getting nervous for a second and I remembered why I was there and that I owed my surgeon a good skate. So I went out there and had a good skate. Not perfect but a good skate.
It's not about the competition, it's about putting on a good show for the audience (be they judges, skaters or spectators). Everyone wants to enjoy some skating.
