The lack of the nastiness, b**tchiness, snarkiness that you find in certain other figure skating forums :)

MadMac

The welcoming, sharing attitude from everyone. Great community spirit.

The practice thread. Last night I went through all my practice posts to review my progress. That was nice. If I was just writing for myself I wouldn't be so detailed (or funny).
Yes I'm in with the 90's. I have a skating blog. http://icedoesntcare.blogspot.com/

I like your practice thread themes - that's what makes them so much fun and inviting.

JHarer

Being able to talk with lots of other adult skaters.

Being able to talk about skating and people know what you're talking about and don't get sick of you talking about it.

aussieskater

...its sense of community, and the fact that it's not US or Europe-centric.

Plus it's the only place I've found which hasn't been taken over by the kids and text-talk.

I love skatingforums!

JSM

The info!  There is so much information here that I need to know - about competitions, testing, and events for adult skaters (I didn't even know these existed!).  Not everything in the skating world is easy to find, and I found this place to be a great resource, which is why I am here.  =)

Query

That people talk about skating technique and equipment for ordinary people!

Some other forums and magazines are mostly for skating fans. I don't need to know about the personal lives of great skaters!

Yes, I've had fun with it, but I just wanted to point out that the first practice thread on this version of Skating Forums was posted by Sierra.

I've been a subscriber for a long time - I think it has in some way shaped the way I see my skating and my judging - seeing the perspectives of all of the ranges of skaters on the board from beginning recreational skaters to the more advanced levels and also the inclusion of all age groups and parents of skaters!

Kuddos to skating forums! :)

hopskipjump

Everyone is welcoming - even to people who are new to skating!

kiwiskater

being able to find out answers to all those questions about skating (gear as well as the actual skating), we just don't get that on the ground at our rink!

a place to chat (skating & otherwise)
