She skated in a competition with out falling! She came off the ice BEAMING! She was so proud of herself. That alone was reward enough for her, but the icing on the cake was when she took 1st place! She has struggled in this level(pre-pre) and went out yesterday with the confidence needed to pull off a very good preformance! I sincerely hope she will carry that feeling with her for the next little while. She felt great about her performance, but I don't think she thought she would place first. All but one judge gave her 1st. The other judge gave her 2nd. Only dd and the 2nd place skater had ordinals that weren't all over the board. Both of those girls did well. AWESOME sportsmanship as well. Thanks for letting me brag a bit. :)

Yay!!  Congratulations!  I know she must be excited and happy.  (My daughter had a very similar experience yesterday.)  The confidence really helps.

Thanks everyone! dak_rab, congrats to your daughter too! It is amazing to see the difference when she skates with confidence. :)

Thanks skittl! I am so excited to recieve the video. She hasn't seen the video yet... I can't wait for her to see it. Her pancake spin was so awesome and near the beginning of her program. I think it set the mood for the rest of the program. It was fun to see her skate so well!

Here is the video. I need to figure out what is up with the audio, but this is her skate from Saturday. I also need to figure out how to edit out her name. It is spelled wrong...but close enough. Edited to add... I can't hear any audio on youtube. Maybe it is there??

Hey - I remember your photographs of that dress - looks so great on the ice as she is such a beautiful young woman! Its a lovely program.

She did beautifully!  She is a beautiful girl and a lovely skater.  You must be so proud!  I love her dress too!

isakswings

Thanks so much! :) I am pleased with how well the dress seems to fit the music. I think it is a near perfect match! I am excited to see her skate again in a month. :) No matter the results, I think she will go into that competition with newfound confidence. Someone who has seen her skate from the very begining, commented on how much more confident she is getting. Between her skate in the show last month and last weeks skate, she is really starting to show more confidence. When she is confident, it totally shows! She may not be the worlds best skater, but she is mine and I am very proud of what she has accomplished! :)

Well done to her, she deserved 1st place, a flawless routine...and the choreography fitted the music perfectly :) how long has she been skating? :)

Thanks! She's been skating seriously for about 3.5 years. Technically she first stepped on the ice 4.5 yrs ago but was skating once a week with an occasional extra public session and only during learn to skate sessions during the 1st year. She didn't skate for 3  mos and then 2 months after getting back into skating LTS, she started taking lessons with her coach. The rest is history!! lol
