New rink opened today, and I was first on the ice.

Our new rink opened today. Money had been donated way back in 2007, and finally the rink is a reality.
The other rink in town went to 100% hockey this year, so we are really please about this new one.
Opened at noon, and I was there, first to step on the ice. Felt great! they are having a big opening Skatefest on Saturday.
Best Christmas present to our skaters in....well, ever.

That's great news!  It sounds like it has been in the works for a long time.  I'm glad it came to fruition.  The hockey presence is huge where I live too so I can see how nice that must be to have a second rink.

Congrats!  I hope someone took your picture as the first skater on the new ice for posterity.  Did you cut a ribbon at the dasher board entrance?
