"The First Skate contest, which launches today, invites southern Albertan skating fans to enter a 30 second to two-minute video or 500 to 1,000 word written story for an opportunity to share the first public skate experience with one of three ice skating Olympians on one of three new rinks at Canada Olympic Park."

Video or written essay contest submissions will be accepted November 1 – 19. The top ten finalists will be posted on the contest website for online voting from December 6 – 12, and the three winners will be revealed by Wickenheiser, Stojko and Nesbitt on December 15 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Skate event on the new ice rinks at COP.
