After 4 pairs of boots, I've learned some fitting tricks. Here is a list of every trick I know, barring blade positioning, to get boots to fit.

So after experimenting with adding some cheap foam insoles and coupling that with the boot bumper sleeve, I'm not so wiggly and wobbly.  I might need to add one more insole (or a partial insole) to the right boot to see if I can get it just a wee bit more secure.

Query

What is a "boot bumper sleeve"? Tell us about it!

 Meli, do you mean this?

Or this? These worked for me, but wouldn't stick more than a couple of hours.

I'm toying with trying this. It's for post surgery, but I could cut out the gel  freezer packs and slip in a piece of athletic gel or suede.

That would be it... a little more info on it here:  http://www.silipos.com/Products/Orthopedics/Sleeves-&-Wraps/Boot-Bumper
though it's cheaper there than what I paid at the skate shop.  Oh well, the cost of "need it NOW" I guess.

The gel part up the Achilles helps give me some extra volume so that my heel doesn't slide around as much, and the gel strip in front helps prevent lace bite.  It took a little bit of getting used to (there's a wee bit of squish to it) but overall it's comfortable, and it helping to keep things in place.  I'm only using the sleeve on my landing foot because that boot is getting looser and looser in the heel.

You aren't by any chance using a stiff orthotic (or stiff molded insole, like SuperFeet) jammed into the sides of the boot are you? They gradually stretch boots sideways a bit, because of the sideways pressure. Sometimes soft orthotics and re-shaped insoles make more sense.

No orthotics, just my fat feet.  ;D

I cannot believe these KatStraps.

I think I'm going to order a pair or two.  They do come in pairs, right?

AgnesNitt

Katzstrapz do come in pairs. Black or white and the white an be dyed any color. You can also order special sizes.
