Hi,
DD outgrew her skates! She is in 2 riedell 43. She is now a 3. And the 43 no longer comes with a flex notch (only the adult version has it apparently). She is small so she needs the flex notch otherwise it would be weeks before she could do a sitspin! The 1310 ls has a flex notch and is supposed to be similar in stiffness. So does anyone have them? DD is working on double loop, double flip and just started double lutz. Has landed half the loops and the flips and lutzes are a crap shoot but she manages to get one in here and there.

I think I should look for another boot, since no one seems to be using them. Are they going to go out like those hinged boots I saw at a pro shop?

Lots of skaters at my rink wear the 1310s. We also have some in the 910s (preteens working on axel and 2sal). Our higher level skaters (Intermediate - Senior) are either wearing the 2010s or Edeas.

Your skater's size (height/weight) and knee bend ability should help determine the right boots for her.

1310's are widely used; they fit differently from other Riedells; some skaters love them and some are not comfortable in them. You need to try them on and there will be an adjustment curve.

Why not just get what you need, take it to a shoemaker, and have them cut a flex notch in?

Shoemakers can cut a flex notch and stitch/glue it closed? It has to void the bootmaker warranty, of course, but has anyone ever done it successfully?
I'd worry about it coming undone or not being angled correctly. Not criticizing, just wanting to know more info.

I kind of agree with Isk8ny. Maybe a pro shop. But I would think the warrantee would be void. But it makes me think maybe Reidell would. DD also likes the hook on the tounge which was also removed for the jr sizes.

I don't know if it helps, but I just ordered a pair of stock boots and requested a flex notch. It was extra $$, but I like the feature.
It's still considered a stock boot, not a custom. Ask Riedell if they can add the notch for a little extra money.

Are you sure that she's still in the "junior" sizes? She might be in the adult sizes now.

yes still junior. The 435 sr starts at a size 4. That is why pro shop suggested the 1310 because it starts at a 3. The pro shop also said she may be able to get straight stock. Her 43 needed to be a split width A/C and still punched out on the C. He said the fit on the 1310 a/b would be similar and there is no mark up for it. I had to pay an extra $100 to do that split width on her current skates.

Yup. A good quality shoemaker can certainly do it; it's not a difficult thing to do. You need somebody that does repairs, i.e. replaces soles, repairs uppers etc, and who does quality work; the sort who you'd trust rebuilding your most expensive pair of dress pumps. Not just a guy who cleans and polishes.

However, OTT - I'm surprised that the flex notch isn't there - my DD's 255s, which are a lower boot, have a flex notch and she's in a size 3.
