On the moves in the field sheet there is Intermediate and another test sheet called Intermediate Supplemental.  Why are there two different tests?  Which one would a skater normally take?

I think supplemental is for people who passed the old intermediate test, but would like to take the "missing" moves from the test structure that were added later (so I think it contains lower level moves too, but you are judged at an intermediate standard).  Mostly coaches take it, to have a credential that they are qualified to teach those moves.

IIRC, it does not count as the intermediate test.  (ETA: This is right, the test book confirms- you must pass the regular test to take the supplemental test, however it is option so you can move on without taking it.  There is a senior supplemental test too.)

Here is a thread that talked about them:

Although from
QuoteI believe they're optional, meaning if a skater has passed Intermediate prior to 9/2010, they can take the Novice test without passing the supplemental test.
in that thread, now I'm confused if a skater who passes after that date has to take the supplemental moves too.  I still don't think they do though.

Ah - so it looks like if you are doing the "new tests" you can skip them.  Good to know!

For the record, I have not seen one supplemental test in my area - most people don't even know that they exist!

Certainly not required.

My daughter has passed both the Intermediate and Senior supplemental Moves tests.  The Intermediate test has the "new" moves from Pre-Preliminary through Intermediate, and the Senior test has them from Novice through Senior.  They are meant for skaters who passed those levels on the old tests and want to fill in the gaps (usually for coaching purposes, as has been said).  Those testing since the Moves were changed will not need to take these, since they will already have tested these patterns.

Gotta say, it was really fun watching my daughter test these.  You don't usually get to see lower level Moves performed to high standards - she was a Senior skater when she took both, so her low-level moves were truly beautiful.

When I was the test chair for our club, we had one skater test both the Intermediate and Senior Supplimental tests.  The skater had already passed her senior tests.  T
