Can you share?  I'm thinking about springing for a trip to AN.  I've never been. When will we find out?

Supposed to be announced early-mid August.  Friends in Atlanta and Arizona both swear they are bidding and John LeFevre said CoSprings would be bidding at the adult meeting at Chicago ANs.

What exactly does it mean to bid on a competition? Does a rink have to pay a certain amount of money to host the comp, and whoever bids the most gets it?

I have always wondered about this myself.....

This link is to the USFS web site, where they have the bid packages and information for hosting events.  No, the host club does not pay anything, but they do prepare a budget and give details about the facility, hotels, etc.

Wow, very interesting. Reminds me that I am a very small fish in a big pond. Most of the rinks I go to wouldn't meet even the seating requirements to host any of the championship competitions. My club struggles to find enough volunteers to do a small ISI competition.

Hi Everyone,

The bids for the 2013 & 2014 adult sectionals and the U.S. Adult Championships have been evaluated. There are a few more steps to complete the process. No selections have been made official yet, so I ask that you please disregard any rumors (as will always occur!) until all information is made public. It won't be long, so your continued patience is much appreciated!

Disregard rumors?
That's what makes it fun to guess who bid and who might get selected, how you'll get there and where you'll stay.

I wouldn't make flight/hotel ressies, but you can post rumors here.

Without any insider information, my guess would be Colorado Springs since they were just named an "Olympic Training Center."  That had to come with some $$$ and this would be a way to share the wealth.

I hope not, it would make programs hard to get through.

I agree.. if you aren't using to skating at altitude, it's a HUGE system shock to go and try it.. and as you get older it only gets harder.  Remember all the skaters who needed oxygen and other medical assistance after 4CC's?  If elite athletes can't do it, I'm betting most adult skaters can't either... not with only a few days essentially to get ready for a competition.

I am a little anxious to see where they will be... maybe I might think about going if it's not that far from me.
