First of all, I'd like to thank Agnes for posting the list of all the topics the Governing Council is discussing/voting on this week.

But I have a slightly n00bish question: Where/when/are they going to post the results?

I posted that? Did I?  ???
Yes I'm in with the 90's. I have a skating blog. http://icedoesntcare.blogspot.com/

FigureSpins

The minutes/results will be posted on the USFSA Members-Only site.  (Last year, it was published in mid-May.)
The various committees will communicate or document the changes.

Some people have blogged live from the seminar/meeting in past years - I'll see if anyone has plans to do so this year.
2010: http://smiscgc2010.blogspot.com/

I spoke with our delegate tonight and gave him my opinions about a few of the proposals.  (He leaves tomorrow.)  We had a nice chat about how some of the proposals would probably pass IF the implementation timing were better.  Case in point: someone mentioned changing the membership rate this late in the year and how that affects the clubs' renewals in June/July.  It's not just the USFSA's budget that needs to be considered; the individual clubs have to plan ahead as well.  Springing a rate change on members after they renewed at the lower rate is awkward.

I suggested voting against the individual members' rate increase.  He said that there were less than 200 individual USFSA members - I thought it was much higher than that - in the low 1,000's?  *shrugs*

If you're a USFSA member and have an online ID/password, you can access the Governing Council documents here: https://www.usfsaonline.org/GoverningCouncil/GoverningCouncil.asp

The Meeting Book for 2011 is on that page, along with the committee reports.

I've been picking through the various documents and reading up on the proposals.  It's very interesting to see what's been suggested.

Yes, thanks! That's the one.
Notice that the effective date for Adult MIF changes is listed as Sept 2, 2010 -- hope that is a typo LOL!!

I have mixed feelings about the changes. For the most part I like it. Hoping you all are correct in your prediction of this being a move toward eliminating the separate adult mif track. But then, that would make earning a Gold Medal for MIF DRASTICALLY more difficult for adults.  And how would it match up with MIF prerequisites for taking the various Adult FS tests? Must pass Juv or Int MIF to take Gold FS? It will be interesting, indeed, to see where all this is going.

Skittl1321

My club president said the proxy delegate called and said it diid not pass. And its the only one on the list that doesn't say "approved" with an implementation date in 2011. So until the official report comes out, count me as confused.

Adult Pre-Bronze: replaced forward three turns with forward right and left foot spirals (moved from adult silver)

Yay!  I absolutely hated the three turn pattern.  It's one of the reasons I didn't pass when I tested (four years ago and haven't worked up the courage to try again)  I can do spirals.  Not necessarily perfect, but better than that dastardly pattern.
Once in his life, every man is entitled to fall madly in love with one gorgeous redhead.  (Lucille Ball)

Color me confused too... I personally don't mind if they are changed, I find the forward 3 turn pattern to be much harder than it needs to be and would much rather do the spirals... but on the flip side of that, I am planning on testing pre-bronze and bronze in July or August, so I'd like to know which moves I will be preparing to test.

If you're testing this summer, keep doing the ones you're doing now.  Even if the change goes through, it won't go into effect until Sept.

drskater

To be confused with Agnes Nitt--what an amazing compliment! Thanks!

Let me tell you--people who supported the fee increase campaigned hard during the days leading up to the vote. The Board worked hard too; every section meeting and other critical issues forums were devoted the dire consequences of not passing the increases. The whole budget was constructed around the 600K in revenue and the Board cannot operate on a deficit anymore. Programs, resources, staffing were all set to be slashed if this did not get approved. No one brought up the problem of lack of renewals affecting these numbers.

I don't recall a single peep about the increase in Individual membership fees.

A few clubs objected for being "penalized" for getting more than 100 members, and having to pay club dues of $200.00. This was rectified by creating a new category of clubs with 50-99 members who will now pay $100.00 in fees (less than 50 members remains $50.00).

Isk8NYC

Sounds like they rubber-stamped everything, huh?  Thanks for the update.

There was a post on Facebook saying that the GC results would be published on 5/11/2011.
