So, I'm really digging Chicago.  What's not to like about a city that has an outdoor ice rink open in the summer?

This is probably a 1/4 sheet of real ice with cute neon rentals and adorable seal ride on toys!

Ice condition was lousy but it was the last hour of the night.  The kids working there were soooo sweet and friendly.  Seriously: made my night. The suggested a nearby place to eat and how to get back to my hotel.  Nice

No freestyles harness etc.  I didn't see bathrooms but there are lots of places to eat so that will do

$10 if you bring your own skates.

Checking their website it looks like this didn't re-open in 2017. Is that correct?

I skated there in 2016 but I seem to remember there was construction in the area.  Perhaps that's why it didn't open for 2017?

You could call Navy Pier and ask: 1-800 595-PIER (7437)

Just called and asked about the rink, response was "it's no longer here" to both is there a rink, and are there plans to have one at a later date! so I guess that's a no.......

That is a bummer. :(

I remember there being one near the bean when I was little (the year we drove from florida to chicago for christmas with family and I remembered in tennessee I left my skates at home...). Is that still a thing in the winter?

As of 2014 there were two rinks by Cloud Gate "the bean".  I posted a review of the new one here somewhere.

I think there are quite a few outdoor rinks around the city. We make a yearly trip into the city to go to the Christkindlmarkt on Daley Plaza and then to Millennium park to skate by the bean. This year we are going to stay the night in a hotel so that we can also skate at the Maggie Daley Ribbon and go to Lincoln Park's Zoo Lights (which also has an outdoor rink). The ice is terrible at the rink by the bean, but it is fun to skate under the city skyline anyway.
