These are only for little kids, but they're intriguing: there's a small disc at the front of the shoe/sneaker that lets the wearer "spin."  Some early reports say that they're dangerous, but I think they might be useful as a training tool.

Details:
•Please read safety instructions before use
•Bella B. shoes are full of fun and glee, just a few steps and you're a twirling machine!
•Make sure your shoes are nice and secure, and no loose objects are found on the floor
•Once that is done you can get on your toes, push with your other foot, and around you go!
•Make up your own style of tricks to do, and let Bella bring out the Ballerina in you
•Take time to get acquainted with the shoes, practice with an adult supervising you
•Use caution when spinning like a top, and if you feel like you're getting dizzy or off balance - stop!
•Place your other foot to stop your spin, a little practice and you're ready to begin

I tried on a pair of the Skechers Tone-Up sneakers last month and thought that the bump-outs on the ball and heel of the foot would be good for practicing three turns, lol.

Wow that sounds insanely dangerous!  Worse than heelies.

I can wear kids sizes, if anyone wants to buy me a pair, I'll try them out.  But it seems like the spinning is centered in an area that wouldn't really mock either ballet OR skating.

Watch eBay - I'll bet you find a newish pair for cheap once school starts and the administrators ban these like they did Heelies.

It's in the spot that most people use for spin trainers, although they should be off-center to simulate the edge.

Where should the disc be for ballet dancers?

Higher up the foot.  Though I guess it is in the spot most recreational dancers who don't have a high demi-pointe turn on.

They look really fun!  I'd buy them if dd wanted them (and they were in stock).
