Today I went to Joann Fabric to get some material to make headbands for my show group. Long story short, the line to get fabric cut was ridiculously long, so I purchased glittery ribbon thinking that I could use that instead (and if not, I am not out a lot of money). Any thoughts on how to make sure they stay in the girl's hair since I want to stay away from bobby pins?

Could try the clips that snap? They don't fall out as easily as bobby pins. And lots of hair spray?

Are you putting it around the head or from nape-to-front?  Just curious.

Martha Stewart once did a craft to turn ribbon into headbands.

She measured the ribbon, then took off 4-5"
Attach elastic to the ends of the cut ribbon, so that you have some stretch, which holds it in place.

My cousin did this cool thing on a headband that kept slipping: she smeared a thin bead of hot glue against the inside band, flattening it as she went, then let it cool/dry.  It stayed in place because the cooled glue provides friction.

You'd have to test it though: it might melt the ribbon.

FWIW, I've found that dollar stores have really cheap hair accessories for single-use purposes.

Sew/ glue the ribbon to the dollar store headbands. You can buy a fistful for a dollar.
