I visited Austin (Texas) last month for work and got to skate at Chaparral Ice in the northwestern part of the city. Their freestyle ice time is sold by the block. I paid $22 for all-you-can-skate from 5:00-9:00am. Since I had a meeting, I wasn't able to stay the entire 4 hours, but the price was reasonable.

I was the only one on the ice for the first 45 minutes.

The ice there is very soft, and I could hear it cracking beneath my feet with each stroke. Spins did not feel secure since the ice felt like it wouldn't support me.

A few other kids showed up closer to 6am and the coaches and parents pretty much left me alone.

All in all, a good value for your money for freestyle sessions.
