How to take care of skates?

Query, I've had both a silver car with a pale interior and a white car with a dark interior. I have and consistently use a sunshade. I have felt absolutely no difference between the two in the summer and would never consider leaving my skates in there for long periods of time. The only thing that has ever helped with the way my car feels getting into it after eight hours of work is parking in the one lot that has a row which stays in full shade.
