Thanks for posting this - I used to skate at that competition and it was always a wonderful experience.
How many years has this competition been running?
over 30 years. It was one of the very first ISI competitions and was started by Robert Kelton who was president of ISI (back when it was ISIA) from 1973-1975.
I skated in Lake Placid in the early-to-mid 1980's. I got my first (of two) speeding tickets in Tuxedo, NY. (Warning: speed trap) We were 6-8 young women sharing one hotel room. The mischief that many young adults could get into was amazing; nothing bad, but boy were we adventurous!
I was in LP earlier this year for the USFSA Synchro Sectionals and it brought back so many wonderful memories. However, I've decided that renting a house is much better than splitting a hotel room. We had a beautiful, luxurious rental house for less than what the hotel rooms would have cost.
