Just upgraded from stock Jackson Competitors to split-width Jackson Premieres with MK Pro blades. Just laced all four hooks this week. Loving them!

Did you heat mold your premieres?

Yes I did. Even before the blades went on.

Riedell 255 TS with Aspire XP blades.

High end for an entry level/first boot but I needed a wide toe box and this was the best match.

Let's see...Back in the day I wore Sp Teri Deluxe with Pattern 99 blades.

After a long absence from the sport, I currently wear custom Harlick Competitor+ X-Line with John Wilson Coronation Ace Blades.

Right now I have a new pair of Harlick High Tester X-Line  - which I sent out to Harlick to have the soles sealed with their recommended Chem-Glaze (with the glitter of course!).  Once I get these returned, I will then have my current freestyle boots to switch over to "figures" or "patch" blades.

Yes, I am a fan of Harlicks.  Most people think they are heavy and clunky.  From working on my feet for over 12 hours a day for the last 20 years, my feet have gotten wider.  The x-line design that Harlick now offers , fit my feet like a glove.  I am happy that I still can purchase a stock boot (with some mods) and have happy feet for skating.   :WS:

Also - Harlick will re-last or spot stretch skate boots.  I had this done to my current skates prior to returning to the ice.

So I am currently looking for that perfect pair of freestyle blades for my new boots!

Was originally in Jackson Mystiques with their stock blades.

Back in March I realised my feet were sliding, heels lifting, I needed new boots. Went to a reputable fitter, and ended up in Edea Overtures with Coronation Ace blades.

Absolutely love them, no more sliding feet, and everything is improving nicely in my skating now :)

Yes, I got them! I am so so so happy with them. :) took all of 2 days to break them in and a couple blisters, but they just work with all I've been doing. And besides, the blisters are results of 5 hours STRAIGHT of skating. :)) It's nice to not have to worry about boots that could fall apart on you any time :)) And I'm enjoying jumping with that crosscut toepick!

Have had them for a month...and can you believe, moved up 2 levels in that time span!

I just bought new skates-Riedell 255 with Eclipse blades.  Between going 1/2 size smaller, the stiffer boot and the different toe pick it's been an adjustment but I like them.  I had Riedell's before-I can't remember the number 117 maybe?  They were an recreational skating boot and I don't think they are made anymore or the number changed or something.

I'm on my third pair of Riedell 2010LS boots. First pair with MK pro blades, retired those to pond/coaching skates and currently wear Gold Seal blades.

I have Wifa dance boots and John Wilson dance blades.
I have skated for 35 years and only once didn't have Wifa boots and I went back to Wifa.  I love them.  I am getting a new pair of Wifa dance boots and will most likely need new blades.  If I can hold off to next year I'll get MK otherwise it's more John Wilson since they are cheaper.

I just upgraded from a Jackson Mystique to a Jackson Premiere boot with a Ultima Legacy blade.  The feel is 100% different but they didn't take long to get accustomed to.  I am very happy with them.

Risport RF3 Super with Eclipse mist blades. The Risports were bought after my botched Gam skates almost gave me a complex.  The blades were picked based off of some other brands I asked about... the dealer rec'd them because my feet aren't growing and they will last longer (more sharpening surface).

I'd worn Gam for years, then switched to Jackson, and then back to Gam... where I had the worst customer service experience ever.  My skates were warped and it took forever for me (and my local skating store) to get Gam to even look at them.  When they did, they admitted the skates were 'off' and refunded my money.  Despite this, I'd go back to Gam.  Best fitting skates for my feet.  And to be honest the Risports hurt like all heck to break in.  Wouldn't want to go through that again.

I'm wondering if all entry level boots are short lived? Mine as well lasted really short it didn't even make the one year anniversary of having them lol. The Riedell 910ls . Now I have the Jackson premiere they feel much stiffer and much more comfortable.

Yes, entry-level boots are short lived if you are skating with good knee/ankle bend and skating often (and especially if you're jumping).  Entry level boots are designed for skaters who aren't bending a lot yet and aren't putting much pressure on the boots.  Even if you aren't landing double or triple jumps, if you are a full-grown man, you will need to get boots that are a little stiffer.  You weigh more than the average 80-120lb skater that most of these boots are design for, and that will put more pressure on the boots with each stroke and jump landing.
I am in my third pair of SP Teri KT2 boots and my blades are Wilson Gold Seal.  I love the Gold Seal blades. :)

Jackson Freestyle boots with Ultima Mirage blades.

The boots are heat moldable but have never fit quite right even with repeat moldings.  My heels move in these boots and I'm developing a bursa on the top of my left foot and bunions on my right foot.  Yesterday while wiping down the blades after skating, a friend pointed out that the right boot (my landing foot) is developing the typical deep crease one sees when boots start to break down.  These skates are about two and a half years old and I have roughly 500 hours on them (10 blade sharpenings).  Although I'm a tad disappointed with the fit and the fact that they seem to be short lived, they were good reentry level boots when I came back to skating after being off ice for over 30 years.  This summer I plan to make an appointment with Mike Cunningham down at Skater's Paradise and retire these puppies.  Here's hoping the replacement boots will fit well and wear like iron.

That's pretty much the reason I chucked mine. Foot doctor said it wasn't worth getting custom insoles. Other people also complain about them. Maybe it's just not meant for adults?

My skates: SP Pro Teri with MK Professional blades. I like how the blades will carry me through higher levels.  :spin:

Got my SP-Teri KT-2 Boots in.

Fit is great, but one more area I need to get punched out when I get around to it.

Kept my MK Pro Blades.  Most of the issues that I had were almost assuredly caused by the Boots I was wearing.  Everything has improved, literally since the first time I got on the ice in the new boots.

I can almost pull in a Scratch Spin now, which was impossible in the old boots (but using the same blade).  Jump landings are better cause my heal doesn't lift almost half an inch in the boot and I can actually put some pressure on the front of the boot (Feel when the blade touches down a bit better).

I can roll to toe on Axels and Loops went from impossible to trivial.  Salchows are decent.

I tried on a pair of Eclipse Pinnacle blades with a temp mount and returned them immediately.  There is some difference/benefit, but not enough to pay $400.  The Toe Pick on them is barely an improvement over the MK Pro.  It basically felt the same to me, so I'm gonna keep an eye on eBay for some 10" Visions or Phantoms while I think that part over a bit.

With the boot fitting/performing right, I no longer feel the urgency to upgrade blades (and I wasn't about to break in new boots with new blades on them, anyways).
