Two more DC rinks
« on: July 28, 2018, 01:38:46 AM »
Gee. Aren't there enough DC area rinks? A couple new seasonal outdoor rinks have opened up since 2017, that I didn't know about:

1. At the roof top on the Watergate Hotel

This is a very fancy hotel, which some of you might have heard of due to a 1970's era political scandal. I wouldn't be surprised if it is somewhat expensive. While the rink is relatively thin (70'x20') rink, it might have a nice view of the city and the Potomac River

2. On a Wharf on the Washington Channel off of the Potomac River and Anacostia Rivers, a little south of the Tidal Basin.

Obviously, neither is open at this season of the year.

It's difficult for me to understand why DC, a fairly warm city, has so many seasonal outdoor ice rinks, and only one indoor ice rink. (Most of the area rinks are in the suburbs.)
