Title: Retired at 19
Post by: 4711 on August 28, 2017, 05:12:57 PM
The girl in the read coat.

After a battle of anorexia the little Russian girl decided to hang up her skates.

There are a lot of thoughts competing with each other.

First of all, I wish the young woman well.
Child starts of any shade do not have an easy life.
I hope she can find the joy in skating again.

There was a thought about the 'Russian Soul'
I was reminded about a statement regarding a Russian Gymnast, that the Russian (women) are drama queens.
It was a rather intense scene surrounding an Olympic level female gymnast and her coach, tears slowed freely, then she performed an excellent program.
Of course there is always the expectation, and the spirit that brings you to the top can be your worst enemy, once you are up there.

Of course, there is the problem of the child that has yet to grow up.
As the body changes, the performance changes.
In sports like gymnastics or skating, things can get in the way
or in sports that are dominated by male coaches who's perfect body model is a teenage boy, not girl - to keep this neutral, but that can wreck a young woman's confidence.
It is impossible to fulfill this beauty standard - without excessive measures.

Kind of sad to see this end so quickly, but I wish her well
