Post by: Isk8NYC on December 22, 2015, 12:42:00 PM
Welcome to the 2016 Figure Skating Camps and Clinics list!
The most extensive list of adult summer figure skating camps and clinics on the web!

If you know of any  camps or clinics for figure skaters, share the good word!
Last year, there were slim pickin's for adults, so let us know what's going on in the neck of your woods!
(While skatingforums.com focuses on adult figure skating events, good kiddie kamps are also welcome.)

Links to information and/or registration forms are important, as are dates.

If you're shy and don't want to post a notice yourself, send it to me via PM or
email the info to "administrator ..at.. skatingforums.com."
Please put "Camps and Clinics" on the message line.

To receive an email when new posts are added, click the "Notify" button at the bottom of the page.

And if I could do anything beyond forward inside and outside edges I'd consider it, too.   :)  But I have a feeling when they say "any ability" they're still not talking about someone who can't do a proper three turn yet.

I went to the Aspen Adult Skate program several years ago when it was a one week program. The ice was the best I ever skated on.

There will be lessons off the ice as well.  Campers will enjoy a catered lunch together every day and the chance to explore the beautiful city of Budapest at the end of the day.  You can find all of the details on my website www.jojostarbuck.com/shop (click on the picture).  Hope to see you there  :)

Just to follow up on this...  I've worked with JoJo for the past few weeks (adult class and private figures lessons) and have seen really substantial progress in my skating.  She's a pleasure to work with and really knows how to work with adult skaters at a variety of levels.  A weekend in Budapest with her would be awesome!  If you're able to get there, think about it!  (I know we have some forum members in Europe; might be more feasible for you than those of us in the US or elsewhere.)

Special Classes, At Gardens Ice Hou8se in Laurel, MD

Because of Summer camps, and special classes, my current rink, The Gardens Ice House, in Laurel, MD, is running there last weekday public session for a while, this weekend. :( Work sessions (freestyle) will continue through 6/21, at which point the Mid Atlantic Skating School sessions and classes start - more or less the same thing.

I just skated a public held in the back rink Logsdon, which has colder and harder ice. I kept skidding. The FS sessions are split between Resor and Logsdon, so I guess they all get practice on both hard and soft ice - probably a good thing.

LTS ($108/6 classes)
They've been running classes during various sessions:
Series 4 has been running, 6/6-6/30/2016.
Series 5 7/11-7/28/2016 (Discount deadline 7/7)
Series 6 8/1-8/18/2016 (Discount deadline 7/29)
5:50 Open practice for LTS skaters
6:20 Tots 123, BS 1-3; Jump & Spin
6:50 BS 4-8; Freestyle 1-6; Axel
7:20 Open Practice for LTS skaters

The Next Ice Age, http://www.thenexticeage.org an ice theater group, with a connection to http://www.menskating.org, is offering "rehearsal classes", on picking up choreography, and working in an ensemble, 6/27, 7/4, 7/11, 7/18, 7/25, 8/1 ,8/8, 8/15/2016, 2:50 - 3:40 PM, for $25. Walk-ons welcome, if there is room.

"Skaters of all ages and skill levels are welcome." You may even be chosen to join the company.

The Mid-Atlantic Summer Skating School, 6/27-8/19/2016, is running classes too here:
8:15 AM Tuesday, Thursday, The Next Ice Age Edge Class (do you have to sign up for above?)
Monday and Friday mornings: Power Stroking
Bobbe Shire Spin class: High level Friday 9 AM; all levels Wednesaday 8:15 AM
Dance ice is allocated; I'm not sure if there is a class.

There are off-ice Cardio-fit/Body flow classes too.

For more info, pick up literature at the front desk.

Adult Skate Camp in the NYC area, October 7-13:  http://jojostarbuck.com/jojos-cool-workout-skating-camp-coming-to-njnyc/

JoJo will also be running her regular adult classes this fall, Mondays (figures) and Thursdays (freestyle), 12:15-1:15.  Details on her web site (the figures class is listed as Tuesdays, but her most recent e-mail said Mondays) or you can e-mail for more info.

Skategeek was two steps ahead of me - I was going to post JoJo Starbuck's Adult Skating camp after seeing it on FB.  Thanks!

It's a little pricey ($1100) but the meals alone are expensive - Sardi's, Rock Center, Top of the Rock, Tavern on the Green...The orchestra seats to Broadway's American in Paris are so tempting.  *goes to do the math and check vacation days balance*

I'm local (10 min from one of the three rinks she'll be using for the camp) but I'm teaching on some of those days... I may try to get the full schedule so I can see how much of it I could actually attend.  Very tempting but almost harder to do from home than if I were to travel somewhere else and focus on nothing but skating for a few days.
